Post subject:  Mounting Base for - Bumper / shackles / Hilift / skid

Hi All - Well it took some time but the bumper "mounting base" is completed and installed. I will be putting the whole jeep back togather later today (baby sitting my 2yo son). Here are some pics. You can see all the pics at

the site needs work but its a start

Went from 6 standard stock size bolts to 4 - 1/2" grade 8s with top plate

Image
the bolt will hold the actual bumper, the hole will hold the changable shackle/hitch. Im thinking of using the smaller size hitch reciever built into the bumper. Hard to explain.

Prepped the uni frame with spray rustolium

I figure this the plate as a huge washer it will not pull out of the thin uni frame

Now I can start working on a bumper thats easilly removable. I may cut the whole bottom of the plastic factory bumper off. Not quite sure yet - More ispiration from then Prerunner style bumper ORM.

Auggy, Rocky and all thanks for looking and commenting. I love doing this stuff, Im just slow tring to get it right by myself. Was a auto mechanic for a few years but Never done this stuff b4.

Note to self - toe in seems open since drop

So its back togather, better then ever. Painted and Sealed, bolted on good with locktight. Finally put the fender liners in. (Not a good idea to leave them out, puts mud in hard to get out of spots (rust will come is my guess).

Actually pulled (not that bad (10 bolts) since I had all the plastic off) the metal painted fender off (dents ok large dings) and a friend of mine Larry saw a guy do it and we unbeliveably got them 90% out, so its $600-1000 body shop, $450 prepainted fender to Hawaii, or put the jeep on jacks, rip it apart myself, add a good friend and a 12 pack later we got it (Good enough for the girls I go out with).

Since a picture is worth 1000 words, heres a few thousand....KjHawaii

That looks like it's coming along REALLY nicely kjhawaii! I wish I had the room to do that kind of work. I also wish I could park my KJ long enough to do that to it.

It's been a real pleasure watching your truck come along.

We think too much a like, you sure we weren't separated at birth!!

Now do that in the back, and make up a bumper with a tire carrier. You will most likely beat me to it, like you did with the front!

Keep going.......yopu are doing well!

Ditto! I'd like to see any info on this and have you made a bumper to install into it yet?
