The step pad makes a nice touch, looks real good. I like the way you slanted them up.

After seeing yours, I am altering the design on mine. Could you share any specs? Those are nearly perfect! :D

the main rail is 50x50 RHS 6mm or 1/4in wall thickness, the outer round tube is 4.2mm wall thickness extruded tube, not rolled tube.

the angled round tube is sticking out far enough to protect the sheet metal from impact if the kj slides sideways into tree, rock etc. i initially had the round tubing the same hight as main rail, but i think it would have been in the way... so i angled it up to help with clearance. the tread tape was stuck to help with passengers slipping if they step on it. i can jack up the side of the jeep just using the round tubing & it doesn't bend.

the flat stock that runs along the pinch weld is also 6mm or 1/4in. i have 11 1/4x1 inch bolts thru the pinch weld, not one bolt has drilled out any of the spot welds along the pinch seam. the base plates on the arms are also 6mm & have a matching 6mm backing plate that sandwiches the boxed frame, allowing the 7/16in bolts to be done up tight.

no specific measurements, i built them up on the jeep. had to fit, remove & refit several times. i was initially going to make them longer, so that they would also cover the flares, but they needed to hang down nearly a full inch further to clear the flares. i did a mock up before cutting the RHS & it just didn't look right.

Thanks for the pictures and the specs on the metal used in your build-up. Very nice looking. I like that style because it will also help stop doors that people open up into your jeep.

Question: It appears that you cut, welded and ground the round tubing to appear bent, is that so, or did you have a tube bender?

Once again, nice job and thanks for sharing.

GilaMonster> no pipe bender used. after tack welding i left a 1/4in gap on the outside part of joint & slowly built up the weld using fat high strength welding rods.

welding... grinding... more welding... more grinding & eventually rounded joint.

you're right. other cars' front doors hit the rail rather than the jeep now

I like the idea of the door protection

Good for when kids are opening back doors beside your jeep.

If i get some total dimensions i can post a Cad drawing that anyone can build from.
Those rails are Top notch!! some really creative people on lost Kj.
Im Machical engineer and Machinist with Full CNC 3d capabilities which build things like this all day long .Like most of you i dont have time for my own personal things so i would rather buy it from people on here that have already made the item that i like. So to contribute i can give Drawings all i need is specific demensions.

There are many items that i would like dimensions on . Engineering takes much more time than making the product so i would to use others knowledge in order to get what i want. This rail is one of them.

first put a coat of anti-rust primer & then two coats in anti-rust gloss black. i used a small sponge roller , so i could get into most of the places. the sponge leaves an orange peel effect.

once it cures properly, took about 8 weeks... tough as nails.
