Hey Sini,
These are just what I thought up... but better. Nice job. Can I place an order? I'll ask what everyone else failed to... How much would you charge to build me a set?
Matt

Even if he did make you a set shipping would be a killer. Sini is in Australia.

Jeger... my labour would be the killer...

seriously though, i'm packing tonight for a week away camping & off roading so i've only done a quick sketch for you all. all measurements are in centimetres & are a guide only.

i built the rails on the kj as i went. if you want to use the measurements remember you may need to alter them to fit your kj depending on how you want them to fit. the flat stock that mounts onto the pinch weld is not included in the sketch, every kjs' pinch weld is slightly different.

please notice that the arms are longer on the front of the rails, the unibody is not parallel & the mounting plates are angled to suit. also the secondary tubular rails are also slightly tapered, closer at the front & wider towards the rear...

the hardest part is working out where to drill the holes in the unibody & pinch weld. i drilled the holes first & then built the rails section by section...

There's no doubt they'd be expensive to ship but if the overall shipping and purchase price was something I was willing to pay, who cares?? Besides, have you seen the build material and quality? Remember function first and I guarantee, these would certainly do the job I need. If he'll tell me what he would make me a set with like quality, I'll figure the shipping out.

Wow, they look ACE! Kudos to some time spent working! Well worth the effort, well worth the time. Looks beauty! I would feel bad grinding them over rocks!

Well, a little update for the ohio guys, I have a welder and plasma cutter. I also have some metal. Maybe we could get together and have a rock rail party? I'll make a post in the L.O.S.T. Midwest Forum (this is a link to that thread)

Hi Mark,
Did you ever get round to doing the CAD design for the Rockrails? If you have any chance of a copy of them?

thanks,
Fil.

Sorry Fil, I never ended up making my rockrails, I got rid of my libby and replaced it with a rabbit, and then got into a TJ...

Shouldn't be tough to build some though.

Very nice looking indeed!!

I talked to a friend of mine that is a metal fabricator about building me a set... or three!
he said around the $400 range for a set in mild steel, not including paint/powdercoating.
not sure if anyone is intersted, but he'd be willing to do them
He does this in his spare time (which is actually a lot of the time, so turnaround wouldn't be too terribly long)
his work is top-notch. and can also work with aluminum or stainless, but price would go up.
