I haven't heard of a skid plate for the rear diff. If you think you might hit it (or have already) you may want to get a rock ring. This will keep the diff from peeling off if you drag yourself over something. Not sure on the dana. You can go to either a dealership or Jeeps's site and request a build sheet that tells you everything your Jeep came with. But someone else will probably jump in and answer it quicker. |

I am almost positive all KJ rearend's are Corporate 8.25's. The only Dana 30 application I know if in use is for the front axles. |

Correct, you need a rear rock ring or diff guard for a Chrysler 8.25 rear diff. https://www.spydercustoms.com/index2.php http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/cat ... p-152.html (Rock Lizard also sells them at a discount (IIRC) w/ a drain plug and countersunk bolts) There are others, run a search on here. |

Rock Lizards rear diff cover would probably also be a good idea. It's not a Skid or Ring, but 1/2" steel is gonna make the diff a whole lot stronger. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... rear+cover |

Seriously consider giving him a call and buying the one he offers. http://www.rocklizardfabrications.com/ |

I have the Blue Torch one and have banged it many times, but you would never know it by looking at it. However, I would have bought RL's over the BT's if it was available at the time. I would say its a comparable strength, but cheaper and the drain plug is an added bonus. DonC |

Hey, I got mine from Rusty's. Check it out: http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchant.m ... y_Code=DIF You can have it powdercoated but I'd just paint it so you can see where/when you're hitting it. Of course the best protection is to never hit and just find a way to manipulate the pumpkin "around" an obstacle from the driver's seat. Paint it fresh BEFORE you go on a trip, then inspect it after to see the hit marks... then just REPAINT it and try NOT to hit it. |
