Has anyone on here come up with a good cold air intake setup that works well, of their own, or borrowed design? I did a search and didn't find anything.

Well, I want to add a scoop up by the wipers and drop it straight down into the engine through that plastic. I have not done that yet, since I've had too many other things to build (like a bigger smoker for Moab)

LOL, I was thinking the same thing! Would be a nice high pressure area (cowl induction) And would be like a mini snorkel, raising your water fording limit just a bit. Probably easier to do on a gasser than it would on the CRD.

I WAS looking at some hood scoops with an idea of forcing air into the intake. I think it was on this forum that I saw a picture of a Liberty with a scoop. I gotta say it looked real good! I haven't really looked into the idea very much yet. But it is kind of intriguing isn't it?!

hood scoop like this one? 2002-2003
mustang GT, follows the hood contours, almost to the T

Image

i cut two rectangular holes abourt 6 inches (front to back) long and 2 inches wide close to the outside of the inner scoop wall, so the holes are not directly over the thottle body. Placed a green cone shaped filter on the thottle body. When I was towing the pop-up, you get nice cool air for the engine and engine bay.

Al

PS its still for sale, first 8K gets it!

Al: that is the look I want. It looks great! Do you have any pics of the underneath of the hood and the filter setup?

does anyone think this would work better than the stock filter system? http://www.amazon.com/Jeep-Liberty-02-06-Performance-Intakes/dp/B000MFUCEW/ref=sr_1_17/002-6043748-0693648?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1174889752&sr=1-17

THESE will take the heat out of your engine compartment making room for the cool air.
