i think about 11 gauge but im not to sure. i just got the only thing they had. as far as weight im not sure either i would say maybe 20 to 30lbs not to bad. i can hold them up with one hand easy and i only weigh 125lbs if that gives u an idea.

i did get them sand blasted and primed today. i got all the pinch weld holes drilled and a few of the leg base holes drilled. so they are on the jeep till i can finish them up. the wife made me stop so i couldnt finish them tonight. also im not sure if i will add a tube on them for a step side so i dont want to put the finishing coat of paint or lineX yet. they look great and i can tell the will be really strong. ill get some pics up when i get the chance.

Pics of them mounted too, if you don't mind.

Thanks for writing up your project. I really need to get in gear and build a set.

Anybody know if a regulator on a MIG welder is rebuildable? Mine on my SP-100 just stopped allowing gas flow at the regulator.

Ok so i finaly got all bolts in today so i got some pics of the rails mounted on the jeep. they are still in primer since i plan to add a round tube on them soon. i did get a chance to test them out as well. first i jacked to jeep up from the rails w/ a high lift. then i went to my buddy's that has a hill climb w/ 2 rock ledges on after another. when i first got my jeep i couldnt even do this now i can go up both ledges no problem. i couldnt even hit the rails on the way up so he told me to come down them where they droped more. i did and the rails hit but i almost rolled the KJ .. this was as close as i have ever came to rolling. ive 3 wheeled befor and had some rocking but this time freaked me out a little. there was no way i could have even opended the door more than a few inches. wish i could have got this on camera  maybe ill get the guts to do it again and take some pics or a video. trust me it was wild.. ok ok here are the pics i just had to tell u that story.

notice the new warn sticker

I like the way they protrude a little more out from the body to give extra protection add the rocker panel bars and you WILL pick up some slack left by Rock Lizards Hiatus :D  8)

thank u very much buddy. i think RL makes some like that though. i think far enough so u can actually use them as a step but these dont stick out quite that far. thats why i will be adding the round tube i was going to let them stick out that far but really didnt like the look and did like them to hang out just a little past the door. id say half of the 2" tube sticks out past the door to me i looks about right.

Portal axles are straight axles with a gear bo added to each axle end, this allows for greater ground clearance and most portals give an addinal 2:1 redution allowing a stronger set of diff gears to be used.UniMogs and Volvo make most of the portals. The AM General H1 uses a portal type set up for it's IFS/IRS suspension.
