I could be full of it  but just looking at it from a different angle.

you could do a vac form out out some heavy stock - paintable and could be easily mass produced once a pattern is created. Then use some Christmas tree clips to hold the fender in place 8)

Are christmas tree clips the black plastic things that are a pin in the @$$ to remove?

I still miss my 2A....

Anyway, some have used pond liner ( for making the little Koi ponds) to create a waterproof inner fender. They sell it by the foot at Lowes, etc...

You might still be stuck using "christmas trees" to secure them, but I just wanted to put that option out there.

if you get the right size clip for the hole you drilled theres nothing wrong with a xmas tree clip - they strong and sturdy when used right (a series of xmas clips might not hold up your tube/sheetmetal fender... im speaking of holding up a vac formed fender)

OK so I got the majority of the construction done on the right fender. I was a little scared of having to build a matching part for the other side but it only took about 2 hours to get it done. Tomorrow or the next day it should be ready for sheet metal.

OK and I have a question for everyone.... I realized that it would be VERY easy for me to mount my CB to these fenders. It wouldn't be exactly like the pic but that's the general idea.... is this a bad idea? I've have too much microbrew to trust my own judgment at the moment... haha

I actually think that to move both you CB and Radio Antenna to your rear part of your roof rack using equal lenght antennas will acheive a finished clean look to your new fenders and I dare say better reception 8)

I'd mount it in the back too, keep the fenders clean.

Love the way they're looking so far, can't wait to see them when your done!

OK then... I think when I do the rear fenders I will have to extend some tubing between them and the rear bumper just for the sake of mounting my antennas on.... I think that it would look better in the end.

For now with the CB it will probably go on the roof and just be taken off any time I am not on a trail... (rigid antenna)

i agree with not putting the CB on the fender.. those things look AWESOME! the finished product is going to be outstanding.. perhaps you can make a bunch of these.. or maybe sell the blue prints to a large company so we can all have them

Have you begun to consider where those pesky turn signals are going and how to mount them. I luv the look of this mod as it continues to evolve.

I think the turn signals are probably going to have to be relocated into the factory fog light holes and I'll just forgo fog lights until I get it sorted out.

So here are a couple of teasers.... one fender on and a pic of the narrowed bumper and new location of the turn signal.

The part that extends above the narrowed bumper is what holds the factory turn signal.... (just in case I need to be street legal and don't get it finished)

looking good. turn signals are overrated anyway and half the people out there don't use them anyway. Just practice your hand signals.

Just in case anyone was wondering what these look like with a narrowed bumper (ignore all the stuff out to the sides)... I think it looks pretty sweet.

Is there a way to remove the existing turn signals and add round ones, maybe mounted horizontally from the side of the Jeep?

sure... you can put them wherever you want... mine are going into the factory fog holes and I'm fabbing up a pod and bracket to make it work. I'll put up pics when I'm done but the setup could be mounted anywhere you like.

Oh, Okay, I thought you were trying to use the original ones and I couldn't picture them looking good. Now I noticed the orange light on the fog opening.

Never mind....
