pics of modified front diff skid plate

Just looking for some pictures of a mopar modified front diff skid plate. Had anybody extended it upwards, and bolted it under the engine/bumper somewhere. Kinda prerunner style?, or like the new JK (right under the bumper, but of course stops lower, because of the SFA, have to use imagination)

I have seen no reason to modify anything on the front Mopar engine skid other than putting antiseize on the mounting bolts. I've abused mine for 4 yrs. with no ill effects other than scrapes, scratches, and rust.

Here is something that I call a mud deflector. It's job is to stop the front skid plate from scooping up mud/dirt/sand. It does it very well. I know of 3 people on here that have done this. The one in the picture was just a test one to see if it work and to see if it caused any engine cooling problems. When I get my new bumper on later this month I'll fab up a good one.

Yep, the mud deflector is a cool add on...you could even use a street sign that just might happen to be lying around...

did it not hurt your airflow? Ive been thinking about adding something like that but I did know about the airflow

The temp. guage never changed. I did trail and normal driving with temps in the upper 80's, nothing. Mine IS a sign.

I have had mine running from the front edge of the ARB back and curved down to the front edge of the skid for over two years now and no problems at all with cooling, no more snow/mud/dirt/sand build up in the front

JSC where did you attach the front of the skid to on the bumper?

i havent do it yet, but i am now! Im just gonna drill 2 holes in the bottom of my bumper though since its metal

mine bolts to the front of the ARB and then there are two excisting bolts in the lower radiator frame so used them and then it s curves down to cover the front of the skid, its not bolted to it though only goes down over. Fulltimers is more of a flat plate from front to rear. I did mine that way at first but it limited ground clearance in the front so did the curve that way I can pull right up to a rock wall easier

I attached it to the front skid plate and to the base plate for my towing bracket. Curved would have been better.

Jparts only lists:

front suspension
tranny
x-fer
gas tank

Is the front suspension the same as the engine, or was that the one I read was discontinued?

Boy, sometimes there is so much onformation on here that is contradictory, and its hard to figure out which is right.

Rubigade has a nice one. I noticed on the 2005 and up skid plates that there are nuts welded into the front lip of the engine skid. Anyone know what these are for? They will work PEFECT for a plate like that. At least that is what I am going to do with them. I just wondered if maybe there was a plate like this on the newer kJ's or maybe an intent for adding one. Oh, and these nuts are right on the front edge (past the mounting holes) and on the corners.

No, the newer ones still don't have anything there. I think they did that with the intention of adding more for a special edition KJ or something that never happened. I'm seriously considering building my own custom bumper and attaching a plate from it to that point.

Probably 3/16" aircraft grade, all around.
