mounting side rails

ok ok

Ive looked around the site and can't find any shots of the underside of the kj with rails...
Working on getting started with my rock rails , have all the metal but wanting to know what to work off of ..

I need to see where on the unibody these are mounted is there a strong"er" or weaker placced to mount to ...

or is any place just as good as another place on the unibody????
Also when mounting to the uni do ya'll bolt all the way through the body or just into one side

Would love any and all help that is offered....

everyone just uses self-tapping bolts, pre-drill the holes and then use a torque wrench and tighten the bolts in

1. Are the bolts though both sides???( of the unibody)
2. Are there stronger and weaker places on the unibody??
3. Another question : Will just two legs work if i only plan on mild weekend wheeling ??

2 legs will work, along w/ bolting it to the pinch weld, but 3 legs Are better.
If you look at the unibody "frame" you can see a couple thicker spots to attach too. All rails I have seen for the KJ only attach to the "frame" w/ self tappers on the outboard side of the rail.
I am sure someone will beat me to it but I will post some pics tonight of what my rails look like underneath.

Mine mount in three spots to the body with self tapping bolts. Each leg has 6 bolts which make it very sturdy. Unfortunately, I've had to refinish mine a few times now and have accidentially stripped a small handful of the bolts. I just finished drilling holes through the "frame" and will be using 5/16" x 4" grade 5 bolts to remount.

These are CRS Rails, so I'm not exactly sure how the Boulder Bars or Rock Lizards mount.

now if you are drilling through I would then guess that a "backplate" is being used as a washer for the "other" side of the frame
and if so I would guess that if torked down then he uni could be crushed so I guess box mounts would be the best...

Like a big U around the unibody....

i wouldnt go all the way through and if i did id prolly just do the back plate, just dont over tighten it and itd be fine
