I painted it with black cherry paint before I put it on, I'll take another picture when the lights better, i didnt want it black and didnt want it silver(aluminum) , got the idea to paint it that color from the color that tubes in the radiator reflect when the light hits them right which is a redish copper color, black cherry was close enough for me

Here's another pic in better lighting, it gradients very well from behind the grill, only outstanding issue that I see is it won't be as sturdy from being dislodged with it on that way, the way most of you guys have done it with it in the front of hte inserts is much more sturdy, the screen loosened up a little but I don't thing theres any danger of it comming loose from driving, perhaps if a rock got it hard enough if the rock was big

I need to get a new grill sometime in the future anyway, my grill is actually cracked in 2 spots and is missing a mounting hook which makes it stick out below the drivers headlight more than it should, it's very unnoticible unless you're looking for it, it's cracked at the second column from the drivers side, right at the insert support

but anyway, just wanted to thank you guys for the idea again and post a better picture :)

Post subject:  having trouble

Ok, so i am attempting to put the mesh in front of the insert on my grille.
I succesfully got the grille off and the insert out. I picked up some gutter guard and cut it to the size of the openings in the insert. The problem I am having is that when i go to put the insert back into the grille. I am having a heck of a time getting the insert to clip into the tabs on the grille. I think that I may be missing a step here. I took a look at jeremesh's pictures but can't see anything different between them and what I am doing. I have gotten one of the center clips to lock in, but don't think that I will be able to get the clips on the corners in.
I tend to get a bit rammy when I get frustrated. So I decided to take a break and toss it out to see if I can get some advice.

I can't find the camera right now, but can upload pictures if I lost anyone.

I used gutter guard for my grille inserts as well. I just cut a seperate piece of gutter guard for each opening that was an inch or so wider than the opening and used the plastic insert to form the gutter guard. You just have to use careful and use strong pressure. Eventually you will be able to get the black insert to fit. Do each opening seperately and it will be easier to form the gutter guard.

There are pics of my inserts on my mod thread in my sig link below. I painted mine flat black before the final install in the grille. They still have the original coat of paint going on 3 years now. I like gutter guard better than window screening as gutter guard has smaller openings and will not clog up as easily but still protect the AC heat exchanger and radiator.

Did this $5.00 mod to both my Liberty and my Wife's this after noon.
Used Gutter Guard from Home Depot, $4.47 for 6" X 20', which was more than enough to do the two vehicles.
