Getting Rid of the Spare

Hey guys what is those things I need to put in the holes where my mount was? I know I have seen them on some rides around here like TjKj I believe has some on his.. Also can I get them at autozone? I need to know so I can pick them up tomorrow when I pick up my parts from the Stealership..

I bought 4 of those black barbed push clips.I found them at Advance Auto Parts in the "HELP" section,they where labeled for GM cars and came 2 per pack and are 3/8" diameter.They are a tight fit but will not come out,I had to push and twist them to get them all the way in.

Here they are,sadly you need to order in bulk from this place,very good price though,about what 2 cost locally you can get 25.

You know what... I actually think I might have some of these I bought awhile back as the wrong size for the door panel of a dodge neon.. I'll check but I do believe that's what I have..

Whoever said that taking the spare off was easy needs to be beat with a hammer upside the head :lol:

It took me almost an hour and a PIPE WRENCH to get them out! God I hate those E-Torx... Well I scratched the hell out of my KJ and now I need a paint job.... Ugh...

thats odd.. mine took 5 minutes?

i just used a 1/4" socket for the studs and it worked fine..... none of that e-torx bull

I tried a 1/4" socket... it just stripped the hell out of the studs so I was like F this... Super Mario Time.. so I went Italian plumber on it's butt and used the pipe wrench and got them outta there! lol :lol:

Ain't threadlocker a b!tch :lol:

2 of mine came off easily with the E-Torx socket,the other 2 needed the visegrips.

TJ yeah threadlocker is definitely a b!tch I wanted to beat the living hell out of those things! Lol I ain't gonna lie I broke one smooth in half my first go around cuz I was pissed but then the old trusty pipewrench got 'er done lol.. :lol:

When I broke the first one.. I wanted to cry seriously... I thought darn this is just my luck.. But dad came to the rescue with the Pipe Wrench Idea! I was like :shock:

I take mine off about twice a year to wax behond the plates , never had a problem from day one removing them. :wink:

you could of also put two nuts on tightened them together and took it off thus not destroying the studs

Tom I did that idea and my wrench got stuck it was a gear wrench, well, that's when I had to break the darn stud off.. lol :lol:

Yea, I did the extra nut trick on one of mine. I only needed to do it on one of them. The rest came off with a socket.

For anyone else wanting to do this:
Just take one of the nuts off, flip it over and thread it almost all of the way on. Then get another nut and thread it on normal. That way the two flares on the nut (these are the factory nuts that are on there) are facing each other. Now take two wrenchs and tighten the two nuts against each other as hard as you can. Now use a wrench on the back nut and it should turn the whole bolt. If the front nuts try to turn, just tighten them against each other a little more. Once you get the stud out, you will have to break the two nuts apart again. (for some reason, using stud and two nuts in the same line seemed dirty).
