final got the plans
Ordered the extension for the hitch
and waiting to get started on the phxtoad gas can holder
2 birds with one stone
needed the extension anyway to use my hitch mounted cargo basket
needed both for long drives not for offroad adventure
If that were the case i would unhitch and leave the accessories at base camp

oh trust me pictures will follow

ok the holder is almost done just finishing touches
but now i need to find the cans and holders
or fab a holder but need narrower cans
my 5 gallon plastic cans just cover up the back, lights included
and believe it or not california has gas cans that are approved and not approved for caring gas in the state

so the military can search is on

On a differant note i still like what someone on here did and just lay the cans down on their sides in the rack and go
still i would worry about leaks from bad seals and such ....

but anyway The project is close to complete

As far as leaks go. I have never leaked a drop. I use the Nato style cans and they are awesome. If you are worried about them leaking, you can actually make or cut out some extra rubber seal gaskets and glue them in the lid to give it a really tight seal. I haven't had to do that and like I said, no leaks. :D

I used Blitz fuel can holders which are a little small for the Nato cans. I like this because it holds the can tighter and ensures it won't fall out.

Get some pics for us too. We wanna see how it turned out.
