when driving the hinged portion is folded up, pull into your favorite spot to camp push the seats all the way up and fold the hinged portion down and you have about 5'9'' of space to sleep which is enough for me ! Works good . I took it out in three minutes last night and seats are back in, legs fold up out of the way when stored away Not too bad for using up left overs from other projects, only had to buy the piano hinges, will now finish it off, install some trim around the edges, stain it a dark oak and be done |

That is really the only way I would do something like this is if I can put the seats back in fairly quick. |

I slept in the back of my kj a while back during a turkey hunt and it wasn't so bad. I am 6'3". So it was cramped but it worked. Put the sleeping bag back there and slept at an angle. I used some foam mats too because those seat backs are not soft. Anyway, nice work! |

when i was in highschool i commuted to a local college for morning classes.. and between a few classes i had about 2 hours to burn.. i'd take naps in the back of the KJ and it worked great! ... just lay down a sleeping bag and it's perfect.. and i'm 6'1".. however i could see how this completely flat set up would work much better than the not so flat folded rear seats |

At least your 2006 seats fold flatter than our older models. |

I like the plywood pillows a little thin though. |

the plywood pillows flip down when the seats are slid forward for an extra 12 inches of space |

They aren't even close to yours. My guess would be about a 30-35 degree angle for our rear seats folded down. |

Our seats ( 02-04s) are more like ramps than a fold down seat area, everytime I have to fold mine down I find myself trying to push down on the seat trying to get it to go farther! |
