| Post subject: | Air Bags vs after market bumpers |
I have been considering fabricating bumpers for my KK. I am concerned with Fabricated bumpers (or after market if they ever get around to manufacturing them) the air bags would no longer work. Does any one know if they use a bumper crush sensor, or is it an inertial switch somewhere else on the chassis. I am considering building tube bumpers (A tall order as an amateur welder with a 9 month old). I appreciate any suggestions or ideas |

Ive built one for my KJ and I love it a couple days after I put it on I hit a deer and it saved my hood, fender and stock bumper and who knows what all else. But I would definitely do it again and I probably will make a bumper for the next vehicle I buy. I dont think it will mess with your airbags, bc they are set off by how fast the vehicle comes to a stop. |

Well I hit a deer at 75mph slammed on the brakes, the anti-lock brakes failed and my air bags didn't deploy. So, my insurance company is saying they are going to file a claim against Chrysler and I am thinking well is it really their fault or was it just one of those unavoidable happenings? I mean I don't want them to file against Chrysler for what happened, I just want my insurance to fix my windshield, front bumper and replace my tires. I really wish I could have just totalled my jeep that way I could have gotten a 4x4 KJ! **Edit: What my post has to do with this is, I wish I had an aftermarket bumper** |
