Post subject:  Ideas for CB mounting bracket
So, I'm thinking of mounting a CB antenna at bumper level just outboard of my right-side tail-light cluster. There's about 1/4 inch of room between the plastic lens and the horizontal surface of the bumper, so I'm okay coming out right there. I'd like it to be as "stock" looking as possible, so I want the bracket to attach firmly behing the lights into the body. Here's some pictures of the cavity:

Based on the "knock on it with my fist" test, the 3 most solid surfaces seem like the one that's straight up and down (the back side of the door latch assembly), the bottom section that slopes slightly downward, and the 45-degree angle part next to the bottom grommet.

Here's my question: How would y'all work the attachments points (likely just sheet metal screws or similar) so it's as stiff as possible and would support the weight and stress of an antenna with just a small horizontal section coming out flush with the upper part of the bumper?

We installed a Connex General. With limited room to mount on the Liberty... we chose this option and it has worked well for us. We used Industrial Velco to mount on left side of Steering wheel. This points the speaker right toward you and close to electrical connections. Later we mounted the Mic on the Right side of the Steering Wheel. We home made this antenna mount which we really like because it doesn't hit our garage upon entry and also allows complete use of rear flipper window. I wanted to not have to grind down the light if possible and mount it lower for garage clearance and also put it on the passenger side like the radio antenna. That way the left side is open for loading/unloading bikes/boats, etc. Anyone have some suggestions on gauge of steel to use for stiffness, etc?
