After I put my subs in the back, i had very little room to put stuff. Well, 75 bucks, a couple cuts, splinters, a whole bunch of sawdust in the house, and an angry wife, i have the solution! I built a box that you can bungee (or not) things onto the top, and stow whatever you need inside. low enough so you can see out the rear, but enough cubic feet to haul 4x4 gear or whatever your need! The box is rhino lined mostly for practicality, but for looks as well. It's sturdy as all get out, and can hold some pretty heavy stuff on the lid. It really gave me alot of room back! If you have the same problem I did, this is definitely the solution!

i did pretty much the same thing on mine i built my box with a shelf on it. It extends from the side window to side window and from the rear seat to the almost the back door but i plan on putting sides on the shelf with 3" holes to bungee things to. My box is ported so it took a bit more room. I dont have any room on either side my box like you have. when i get it finished i will take some pics and post them as well the only trouble with my "shelf" box combo it that you can see what is on top of mine. I will be buildint a smaller box in front of my speaker box that fits in the area between the seat and the box for my chains and straps. Again once it is finished i will show pictures.

Hmmmm.......
If you extended the top of the box to either side you could recover more room and basically have a rear shelf back there....
Just a thought.

I thought about extending it, but, I haul some pretty akward stuff, and I need the open space on the sides of the box. So, it works out pretty well for me for what I need it to do. Thanks for the suggestion!

if you put anything on that shelf chacher123-you would need to unload it to get at the gear inside the box. I suppose the box could be converted to a drawer...maybe using craftsman's ball bearing slides and made from diamond plate...I love diamond plate.
