materials 8- feet of aluminum square tube 4- 5/16th (3 1/2 - 4 inch long) ubolts 8- star tooth lock washers 8- 5/16th nuts partial can of black engine enamel 5/16th drill bit and drill any other materials you desire for whatever attachments 1- cut aluminum into 4 foot sections 2- measure location on roof rails that you will mount the crossrail 3- center measurement length on crossrail and mark with dry erase marker 4- center span washer from u-bolt on the marks and mark holes 5- drill your holes and wallow them (could also use 1 step larger drill bit instead) 6- paint them and let them dry 7- install 8- spend the 100 bucks you saved on buying something else you want from a LOST member photos include attachments that i added to the crossrails for mounting my cb antenna and ground plane
I bought enough stuff to make two crossbars, but I think I'm just going to stick with one since I do not plan to actually use them as crossbars, simply something to attach my antenna/ground plane to so for one crossbar, it would have been about 20 bucks |

Nice. But I would have used shorter bolts, or cut down the ones you used. |

if i had used ubolts that had less than about 1 1/2 inches of being tightened down, i would have never got them bolted up, but i am considering cutting off about half of the extra, now that the ubolts are spread a bit i think if i were to take it down a 3rd time i'd be able to get it back together with half the extra length in other words if i had gone with ubolts that had like an inch extra i would have not got them together the first 2 times without stickin a prybar across my roof |
