Just finished up on my latest project. I had done the front TJ custom bumper and decided to do the rear to match. Pictures to follow.

We talking about making a factory TJ bumper fit the back or an aftermarket one?

Ok for the second time.

Here are the brackets I made 2" angle steel 1/4" thick bolted to the frame where the
gastank skid and hitch are. Idea thanks to Inc. and his custom bumper :D

Made some cuts in the pinch weld to clear the mounts

Tear off the old bumper.....if you can call it that :ROTFL:

Those plastic parts are just rivited on.
Making sure the door clears, I then centered the bumper and drilled holes for mounting
it on the angle steel.

The bumper is only mounted to two points, the two pieces of angle steel. For now this will work. But since I had to eliminate the spare tire mount, because of the width of the TJ bumper, I a going to evenutally put a swinging tire mount on the bumper. To strengthen the bumper I am going to weld supports from the rear to the bumper.

Now it was time for the stock bumper skin to lose some weight

I made the final cuts to the fender flares after everything was assembled to make sure for a correct fitment and straight lines

You have seen the final product, hope everyone likes it. I know I do. If you have any questions just let me know!

Looks decent for a cheap functional mod. Just an idea on finishing up the bumper ends: http://www.quadratec.com/products/12106_01.htm :2cents:

This mod only cost me like $20-25 total. Got a smokin deal on the bumper. Thanks for the idea JJ. Was thinking of going that route once I can get the rest of the ugly parts covered. I need some ideas for metal work around the bottoms of the tail lights, that's really the only reason I kept the stock bumper skin.

This kind of reminds me of the Shrockworks rear bumpers for XTerras. http://shrockworks.com/Xterra-Rear-Bumper-&-Spare-Tire-Carrier-Swing-Away-Tire-Rack-2nd-Gen-Xterra-pr-16160.html I've always thought they were great bumpers because they add all that functionality of a steel bumper, but keep the design of the vehicle intact by keeping those plastic ends from the original, very similar to what our KJs have and what you've done. I think you've got something very good there and it could be amazing if it was finished to the level of that Shrockworks one. That is, of course, a product though, while yours is a low-cost adaptation of a TJ bumper. So, for what you're working with, it came out amazing! Where can I see some pics of your front bumper that people mentioned?

I think this should get your there. This is a picture list of what I and others have done. How do you like Minneapolis?
I have family that lives in St. Micheal, north west of Maple Grove. Moved out there this summer and am now back in Indiana.
I wanted to meet some people from that area but the Un-Lost group didn't seem very active. I you want some other pics of the front I think I may have some. I lost a hard drive and most of my build pics are now gone.

working on that. For now it sits in the back, i rarely use the back seats. I want to do a swinging tire mount, but thats down the road. So for right now I am fooling around with different was of modifying the stock tire rack. Any Ideas would be great. I think I might relocate the licence plate and light so I can mount a high lift on the back of the bumper, maybe
