Ended up with tires that rubbed a little at the rear of the fender well. So I decided to do something about it. Pulled it in the shop at work and got together the 6" grinder w/cutting wheels, dragged the MIG over, Got it in the air on stands puleed the tires and then.............. Sat my butt on the floor and stared for 20 minutes  That first cut was hell on the nerves  .
So I cut up a small opening to see in behind the first layer.

Then peeled it back. It looked clear so I went to town on it.

I trimmed back horizontally underneath 1.5" and then brought the cut line around the side and up
Image
I then found an inner fender skin from a Tahoe ( We assemble and weld together body panels for GM, hoods, doors , fenders, trunk lids etc. for factory repair parts ) and cut it to fit with a couple inches left over and started welding it back in to the new opening.

As I got it welded I kept trimming it to fit and welding and hammering.

Then it was time to clean it up a little

I also trimmed the factory Mopar rails back to match the new body line. About 1.5"

Oh by the way, here's the tires

Took me about 6 hours of farting around, working, drinking coffee, working, looking, thinking, working and I'm done with the passenger side! Hopefully next Saturday will go better now that I know what I'm doing

Talk about somebody who's clueless ! :-)r I have at least 1000 mi on those tires and I thought I had ordered 265/75 - 16s. I haven't seen my receipt yet ( I'm real organized  ) but I'm sure that's what I ordered. Somehow through all the recieving, looking, admiring, mounting, balancing, more admiring, putting on the JEEP, alignment, tearing out of plastic fender liners on the fly ( Thanks Scott! ) No one including me ever actually looked at the size!!!!!!!!!!!!! No Wonder They Rub !!! Someone on the forum suggested I talk to Treadwright and see if there was a mistake made :juggle: nawwww It's Okay now. I'll just cut to fit. I actually only have the passenger side done, so now next Saturday I'll be doing the driver's side. So if anyone has any special suggestions :ROTFL: I'll be cutting and welding next weekend too! And then get rid of the stock springs/struts and Daystar! I'll have clearance Clarence before I'm done, one way or another. I may go " animal " on the driver's side then come back to the pass. side again!

I guess I need to change my signature now :-)r

I would still find the paper work and contact them, that is if they sent 2 of the wrong size.
Then when the transfer case goes south they can pay for it!

Contacted Treadwright. Love their customer service! They are sending me 2 more 285s for $30 (the difference in price between the two) and will pay all shipping and return costs. :D So now just need to finish cutting the driver's side and get the new (used) suspension on and we'll be runnin' 33's

I just saw this thread. Go to town Larry. Looks like an option for clearance (even for 32s).

Please post some pics from farther away so we can see the 33" wheel in the front and rear wells.

Sorry, my wife took the camera to a convention she is at in Windsor, Ont. . I'll get pictures up of the driver's side mods this week. I did the DS different than the PS. There is plenty of room for 32's in there now. Only problem is I have 33s  . I still made plenty of room tho' . Only rub I have now is a slight rub at the framerail on full lock. Now the back will be a different story, BUT , Tom and I may have some things to try out yet for the rear. Tom has ideas  These tires are HUGE. If I did it over, not sure I'd go this big but too late now. Just gotta go for it!!!!!!! Somebodys gotta be the guinea pig. Might as well be me!! :goink:
