Front skid - what size sign?

Heard that some people have used road signs for their front skid....

What "type" did you use...

ive used them to patch floorboards before but never as "skids"

Not so much as a "skid" but more of a thing to go from the bumper down over the front engine skid to keep dirt, snow, sand whatever out . Stock engine skid acts as a shovel with out it.
Computer is not allowing me now to post but some pictures in the OHIO M&G of mine with a street sign being used
look for a black KJ with an ARB :wink:
Maybe Jeepinjarhead will cross post for me.
Mines worked great for over 4.5 years :wink:

Nope sure not mine,
and thats not an ARB :wink:
That one works but mine goes the other way bowing in towards the engine, heres some I found quick for you

I knew you knew mine just messing with ya. I was looking for pictures of the plate and saw the last one, made me hungry for wings......... :roll: :wink:

here's somethin sad for ya

I was at the steel shop the other day gettin some stuff, and was pricing up sheets of diamond plate

i happened to turn around and there were full size truck tool boxes of several different styles


if you ever need a large amount of diamond plate.. just buy a friggin tool box and cut it up

it was like 75 bucks for a whatever by whatever sheet maybe 2' x 3' or something

one of the truck boxes probably had a sheet ontop that was 3' by 6' or something plus all the other smaller sheets

175 bucks..

yeah, just try not to buy such a big tool box you have trouble fitting it in your KJ :P

my gf basically had to sit between it and the door because i had to flip her seat forward to get it in

Thats why I have a small trailer standing up in the corner of the garage, for times like that :BANANA: :wink:
I remember bringing my ARB back from Chicago , I had to lean forward to see my wife, she was not amused at all with that thing sticking up through the middle of the KJ!!!

Ok, I see how its done... what size would be the best with the least amount of trimming?

Mine is 22.5 wide and 21 long I made it so it covered the most area, yet allowed for some one to do an alignment with out taking it off. It is somewhat of a pain to do oil filter changes though, not impossible but harder.
Of course depends on type of bumper etc. you have.
Thanks for the compliment on my wife, she is really too beautiful and too smart for this old man ....but hey :pepper:
