Post subject:  Opinions on Inverter Welder?

I have gone through several spools 20# of Steel wire on my MIG over the years and even welded up my CRD exhaust with Stainless Steel wire and TriMix Gas. Also I have used quite a few pounds of E6011 and E7014 on my buzz box over the years on mild steel, Cast Iron, and even welded Stainless Steel to Cast Iron, but never tried an Inverter Welder.
Would the Inverter Welder work better on Stainless Steel than my Buzz Box?
Appreciate any experienced opinions. :)

I realize this is an older post,
inverter refers to the power supply on a welder( buzz boxes of old used heavy bulky transformers. inverters utilize solid state electronics and much lighter transformers.
Pros...smaller and weigh quite a bit less), are available for mig, or tig/stick;( models are available to run on 120 vac instead of the typical buzz box's 220 vac... HUGE PLUS!)...use a little less electricity than earlier welding power sources...
Cons...
they typically cost more because of the extra solid state electronics inside.
I have used various esab/miller/hobart and lincoln models... as far as different metals, either ferous or non ferous goes.... most newer inverter power supplies will run a smoother arc than a buzz box, and offer more control over that arc... (finite adjustments on a dial, instead of 5 position switch). miller and lincoln are very popular brands commercially and as a result the consumable parts are often more readily available... my personal favorite in our shop is a miller stick unit the size of my dads lunch box as a kid...(forget the model,) runs on 120 vac (maybe 7 pounds?), but requires a 30 amp circuit to run very hot continuously, only 20 amps to weld 3/32" rod with a lower duty cycle... is a constant current unit... non-critical tig/stick.... but it is capable of 120 amps output ( thats 1/8" rod if you run 7018) I will say this.... the electrode holder on most smaller constant current "stick" inverters is a twist clamping system... and they all suck... pay a few dollars more and get the spring loaded clamp for ease of release.
In defence of the "buzz box" though..... they all weld.....
