DirtyKK wrote: nice progress. im not fond of how wide they are but it is your design. i just think itll look off with wide arse fenders in the front only... Now did I say anything about stopping at the front? Do you think they are too wide, really? now is the time for me to rethink and rebuild if I'm going to. Should I leave maybe an inch of tire out? Do I need to have the fender over the whole tire to be legal? Where would I look that up? Not sure what yet, but something WILL be done the the back also. |

Larry, I wish you would buy the wrong ring and pinion set...like maybe one for a Dana 60. Good work...you are definitely a MANIMAL! |

As far as I know, Ohio has no Fender law. My buddy drives a lifted truck and at least 3-4" of tires hang out beyond his wheel arches, and he has no fender flares or mud flaps and a few of the guys that work at a local advanced auto parts have nothing at all covering their tires. |

Well it's been a couple days and some but not a lot of progress. This is where I was at It's looking pretty hacked up now. It's been apart and retacked together 5-6 times now! Part of it is like 2JeepFamily said trying to keep the warpage to a minimum is almost impossible now. So I made a new template and cut the flat piece from a single piece of .125 sheet steel. I am programming this into our laser so it can be duplicated exactly. The main piece is identical for L & R sides as is the curved piece at the bottom. Then I bent new pieces of tubing for the outside curves. I made 2 identical pieces like this for the main Wheelwell opening. It's just the curved pieces on the ends that attach to the fender are opposite. So that's where I stopped today. I think maybe I was getting in too big of a hurry before and wasn't thinking it thru completely that led to me having to cut it apart and redo it so many times. I'll keep working on it a little at a time tho' and keep taking pics. Oh, and Thanks Voodoo I wasn't sure. |

I like your new name, i'll take royalties right after you win the lottery I was iffy on this one, when i saw the first few pictures, but then again, it is a FAB process I like where you're goin with it You're def. the Wildman, you seem to be pretty handy with the tools and a good fab machine on your shoulders After the flares are done and tweeked the way you want it, maybe you should look at making some sort of tubed/skinned skids for the suspension and rear diff, looks like it's right up your alley! |

are you going to line them with a plastic or complete metal? |

Once they are done in a couple weeks they will be skinned with sheet metal. The goals of all this are: to open up the wheelwell, eliminate the plastic flares and add support to the outer edges of the flare. I used electrical conduit for the mock-up because it's easy to work with but the finished product will have a thicker tubing on the outside edges that hopefully I can lean on just a little bit. And yes these tires are massive. KIDS, Don't try this at home!!!!! |

Here is the finished frame for the right side. I didn't even have all the bolts in and I could grab it and rock the KJ! Now it just has to be skinned with sheetmetal. Whadya think so far? |
