Went in to work and did some more to the fenders today. Found some "scrap" sheetmetal (at least it was once I got ahold of it! :-)r ) and started welding the skin onto the flare. It went better than I expected. I think they are beginning to take shape now. Only had my cellphone with me, hope these are okay for you guys!

The ARB guys keep talking about the advantage of being able to set tools or whatever :5SHOTS: on their front bumpers, so... here's one for them! :goink:

I still have finish work to do on the right one and then weld up the left one ( I have most of the pieces cut, bent and shaped ) but they are coming along nicely.

Anybody wanna buy some flares? $750

J/K THESE ARE MINE! (maybe, cash talks !!)

KJWildman, Very nice! Flat fenders do make a excellent cup holder! Woohoo! Can't wait to see the back ones!

Are you squinting a eye or not? Squinting is 20 gauge. Not is 12! :ROTFL:

My question is this,

what can be done about those (now) unsightly INNER fenders,

can they be cut out some, or are they structural.

because if they are not structural, you have opened up a whole new dimension of tire sizes for us KJers!

Spray it ALL with bedliner.... Bedliner fixes anything and hides a multitude of sins!!!

Most of what's left (on mine at least  ) is structural or support for other body pieces.

X2! Wouldn't hurt to keep the salt away from the metal either!

Sorry it took so long, the 3/4" wide piece that bolts to the body is 10ga. and the sheetmetal on the fender itself is 16ga.

Just ordered a full sheet of each today, 48 x 96 , should be able to get a few sets of these out of that once I get my fixtures made. Anybody interested? I know, you'll have to see them finished. Hopefully I'll have the first set done completely and on for the Badlands Run on the 3rd.

Price to be determined.

very good. I just picked up a couple of pieces of 20 ga. at home de pot for 8 bucks a piece! something like 16x20. Got no choice! What would I do with a whole sheet!

16 is some heavy stuff for skin! and 10 is very cool for the frame. http://www.mesteel.com/info/carbon/thickness.htm

They'll be done by the end of the week! :) They will be completely painted and bolted on and ready to go by April 3rd, in time for the Badlands !

I think some flat metal welded inside the wheel well would dress up the looks a lot. Cover all those angles up.

I agree,
also, an extra layer of skin would look very professional, not to mention easier to prevent mud/rocks/debris/rust in the areas between the skin and tube.

i am loving this mod... i would never have the guts to do something like this nor do i have the welding skills to pull it off... but after looking at this then looking at the wrangler then looking at the KK... i think the KK could definitely pull something like this off... just try and match some of the lines but have the fenders stick out horizontal to the ground instead of sloping... any KK care to try... i know Boblemunche has been pretty daring ot weld up stuff and pull things apart... how about you digger... care to pull off ya fenders?
