 Well, I just got the first of the 3 Big Items I need for my small backyard KJ modification!

I don't really know all that's in it except what I was told. It's suppose to be a +.060 302 "with a cam". (Troy, is that a 347 or do I need to find out if they used longer rods?)I'm going to pull valve covers and maybe the pan and take a peek at how it's been treated. I may be able to tell if better rods were used from the bottom. I don't think head gaskets are much for these so I might even pull the heads and look at the condition of the inside. But then again, maybe I'll just worry about getting it in there first and then take it back out to go through it a little bit before I fire it up. :juggle: I'll get it on the engine stand this afternoon and start cleaning it up and looking at it.

Any idea what the "T" fitting next to the distributor is? I may just be looking at the pic wrong but the best I could come up with was maybe an ugly way to hook up an EGR system to the Edelbrock intake. Im just curious.

You have a 306-308,a 347 uses a stroker crank and rods.

I hope you didn't pay alot, that is some jerry-rigged looking engine from looking at the 3rd pic  .Plan on rebuilding it and/or actually having it blue printed and freshened up(new bearings, seals, gaskets).Good time to have it balanced also.

Oh and throw that carb away and get a man carb(AKA Holley).

Understood. Plans may change at any time with no explanation or reason.

So at the end of the project, Can I expect it to evolve into a 2 door convertible with a boomin system? :D

Got a full engine overhaul gasket kit this week. May not need everything in it but the full on package was only $47 ! I'm already liking this! Cheap parts!!!! Also got a gear drive timing set and ordered the engine swap motor mounts for a narrow frame Jeep from Novak Conversions. I could almost hear the guy's eyes pop out when I told him what I was doing. He said he hadn't heard of anyone doing this yet. He also requested pics of the install! I'm also ordering either Mallory or MSD ignition & distributor this weekend and maybe picking up the trans and tansfer case. :pepper: WooHoooo Progress .... slow .... but still progress! :pepper:

Unless you get a truck avenger, Holley's need a ton of work to do well in off-camber suff. The AFB pictured can be easily modified for decent off-road performance.

I dunno... the valve covers should only have 4 bolts and the distributor is at the wrong end of the motor.... it'll never run right :jester: :-)r

The eldebrocks are okay for out of the box performance, usually good tuning from the start. Holley's are much better for all out performance, but can be finicky sometimes.

That's cheap,some kits can run $10,000+.

With a mod like this you can not have a budget, you will never stay under it anyways.

You can always make some kind of a budget and of course plan on extra expenses. Not everybody rolls in the dough like apparently you do. If he was to spend $3200 on that he could have started off with a better fuel injected motor anyway.
