So as I am slowly saving up to buy a lift, i have alot of free time on my hands. My friend has a welder, and lots of spare metal- its summer and were both quite bored. He has a J10 which he recently lifted and i helped, so hes gonna help me with this bumper. Im a fairly decent welder, but he is great.
His J10 8) :

Workin on the mockup:

Almost finished:

Almost Finished with stinger(The stingers gonna be more angled down, and slightly smaller then it is in the picture):

The little things on top will extend all the way out to the turn signals, in the same way as the RL Front. I haven't put where the turn signals are gonna go, but it'll be alot like the SC Rockstar- more curved rather than angled to fit the KJs body lines.

Still have to get the back of it figured out but that's about it. Gonna mount it the same way RL mounted they're font bumper. Criticism and suggestions are more than welcome, i wanna make this the best i can.
We should start cutting and welding sometime next week, or as soon as he gets more gas for his MIG and i will post pics as we go. Im excited :pepper:

Looks like a great start,
Mounting it like Marty ( RockLizard) did his will work good, or you could make a frame something like ARB does and mount it to that. SC has a plain bad idea on mounting, was the very worst bumper I ever installed and far as the mounting.

Thank you wildman! And thank you Tom, do you happen to have a picture of the mount for the ARB?

Any chance someone has pictures of the ARB mounting or the RL mounting?
Just looking for some future ideas.
Thanks!

Yeah, it is, but would you look at the "designed-to-buckle" folds on the horizontal extensions? I'm wondering what happens to the grille and fenders if the ARB is ever in a front collision. Hopefully the force required to bend it would be from a serious enough impact that you didn't mind your fenders and grille being crushed...safety first!

Must take a little bit to crush an ARB, tree to the left side, killed 3 Deer at different times, plus a Toyota Camry at about 40 MPH. Folded the trunk lid on the Toy, only broke my license plate cover on mine. Deer did nothing but get some blood, guts and hair on it. They are tough.
Oh the fenders it would do nothing since they sit on top of the bumper, not behind. Grill would be smashed I assume but still way cheaper than what would happen with a stock bumper

The pictures do not show the 3 bolts per side under the frame rail plus you can sort of see the two bolts per side in the front part, so 10 bolts total just for the sub frame

That looks really beefy. Honestly i was thinking of following in the footsteps of RL, but instead of it looking like this:

Just buy 2 receiver hitches, and attach them like this:

And have those be my front tow points. Would that work?

Wow. I guess they really should make senior citizens retake their driving tests every few years.

We ended up getting sidetracked with my lift, and a bunch of complications with his lift that we've been working on fixing. As of now i have a TJ bumper on it, but plan on making the bumper in metal fab at school. Itll be around Christmas before its done though- alot longer than i expected.

As of now, i kinda like it. just need to relocate the washer bottle:
