Has anyone made their own rock rails? I want to get some but sadly i'm on a very tight budget and can't drop the $$$ for them. Just lookin it doesn't seem like it would take a rocket scientist to build these. Anyone got demensions or any info?

I made mine but I don't have the measurements. Made them out of 2x2 tubing with a 1 inch angle welded on the rails and bolted to the pinch weld. I got carried away on the steel going to the frame 4x2 inch tubing. But I have hit them hard a bunch of times and they did not even bend or leave a mark on them. You can see them in this pic.

Thats awesome! Where did you find the info to do this or did you just measure and do it all yourself?

Found the info on here. Just looked at pic of some that are being made and bought the steel and figured all out from there. I actually made them twice. The first time I thought they stuck out to far so I cut the braces that go to the frame down so they would fit closer to the body. I spent 80 bucks on them. We have a place in town that has surplus steel.(thats how I came up with the 2x4 tubing)

Lol. I guess i was just impatient cause now that i've actually started looking i've found at least 5 or 6 posts about rails people have made. But for some stupid reason my phone (which is currently the only internet i have) won't let me see pics on any of them. Guess i'll have to wait till tomorrow when i can actually get to a computer and look some more.

to work good they have to come out some and be noticeable.
I have used mine to swivel around trees and rocks before and never hit the body itself. Just put the rock rail against whatever it is, turn the wheel and power on around
Plus cars parking next to you get a nice door ding when they hit them! :pepper:

I've been thinking of fabing up some for myself lately. My cousin has access to metal and is pretty decent at fab work as well as myself and he said he would help. We just need to look at a vehicle in person to see what we need to do.

I'll post something when I get started. This site is also full of info on it. Just got to go find it.

Yeah i feel like an idiot. Once i started lookin i've found tons of info on them. Can't see a lot of the pictures cause they are from a few years ago. Got a good idea for making a little different style. Will post it up when we get them started.
