bought the rails from RRO thinking i would buy a rack but didnt see any in my price range that i liked so i made something that will work just fine.  used 1.25in pipe 1/8thickness for the cross rails and cut steel chain longways for tabs to use tie down straps with, the chain was a pain because i had to find them in steel. my 100 year old bolt cutters wouldnt dent them so i had to break out the grinder. after welding everything together i used 2 cans of krylon black gloss spray paint.

the rails were 200 shipped expensive, i know but my jeep never came with rails at all and i looked at junk yards and even to get new mopar ones that were way over priced so i got the RROs. all together i spent maybe 260 paint, metal, and the chain. oh i also ditched the bolts that came with it and got ones called compression bolts "i think" so i can take the rack off and on without ripping down my lining to access the bolts. |
