Wow, thats awsome. I will be buying one of these come this summer. I do not have the money right now. I want one just like yours libby. Would you still be doing that in the summer. $250 is a great price! I want the light bar and everything. Does it hit the roof when you put heavy things in it?

On the first rack, if I stood with my feet together on one cross rail it was real close to the roof. At rest there is about 3/4" of space at the center of the roof. If the load is spread evenly you can put much more weight on it. But, all that doesnt really matter because that was the prototype and I can improve on the previous design. And yes, I'll make you one this summer.

How about something like this. Its not anywhere close to being finished but you sort of get the idea. This one is a direct bolt on and the megastructure is made of 1" tubing. For reference, the tire in the pic is 32". Let me know if you like.

I think that it looks very clean and neat. It seems that you took some time with it and made it right.
Good for you. It is nice to see when sombody takes the time to make it look nice even if they are going to beat it up.
Do it right, don't cut corners.
Nice job.

I wasn't happy with what I had so I pulled the top part off and on the bottom I added a slight bend towards the front to match the curve of the roof. but anyway, heres what I had.

hi there!!!!

anybody think about fabricating a rook rak using copper tubings and some tubing couplers (elbows and T-joints) connecting joints using cold weld?

Copper is way too soft, it would bend with anything on it. I might look pretty cool, but it wouldn't be functional. I guess you could reinforce it with rebar or something.

It's pretty much done except for finish welds and clean up. Let me know what you think!

Nice I like it...

Now how about fitting a Bike Rack to the tubbing... is it all 1"
I'm sure one of the big names would make something that would work with that...

Good work... I'll keep watching for the final product

Mike
