That's what everyone says, they all talk about the loss of ground clearance. I shaved the diff over 2", and the bottom truss is also a skid plate. It's at the same level as the plate I welded on to cover the hole I cut. IF I lost any clearance at all it's only about 1-1/4". I would rather have some protection on the bottom then that measly 1-1/4". Besides, it's only at the diff, the wedge I used between the plate and the tube is a straight line from the bottom of the diff to the flange where it's welded to the tube. At the flange I only loose the 1/4" from the thickness of the plate. Im left with 15" of clearance at the lowest point, that's pretty darn good for a 9". Anybody with a 14 bolt have that much?
Candy will weigh well over 6,000lbs when its all said and done, I don't want any chance at breaking/bending the housing. I know it's nearly impossible, but it could happen. I will most likely break spindles first, and I plan to carry a couple extra.
My #1 philosophy is "always over build"
