As some of you may know, I have a 95 Grand Cherokee that Im building. Eventually it will end up on 40" tires, and 1 ton axles. Im building a 1 ton full float 9", and this is the beginning of my build threads. So far I've cut the stock flanges off, and started "shaving" it! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Finished grinding my hole, and made a pattern for the new plate. Here's a before/after pic so you can see how much was taken off. ![]() ![]() |

When you get your plate welded on, put some SAE nuts in the housing and shake it around to knock of any slag or other debris off the inside. A custom fabricator told me this trick, worked great when I fabricated a Turbo manifold and did not want to trash out the turbo. Cheers |

What spindles you using? Kinda hard to tell but look like either D60 or D70 spindles,if you plan on running 35 spline axles the D70 spindles are the better way to go,most D60 spindles need to be bored out some to allow 35 spline axles. |

There actually dana 50 TTB spindles, there exactly the same as dana 60, but the ring on the back side is 1/4" shorter. I can, and will be boring them out for 35 spline shafts. There over 1-1/2" already, but will need to be slightly bigger. Im gonna take them back to the machinist, and have him do them on the lathe. Im not that far along yet though, so Im not worried about it. I can't use the D70 spindles because there not bolt on. |
