Ok, put a 30 cal ammo can under the drivers seat today and it fit perfectly in the well under there. Thinking about fabricating a frame or sleeve for it to slide into out of angle. Fits nicely with the hinge to the rear, laying on its side

Think a 30 cal would fit really nicely under the back seat on the drivers side back seat as well. a Little slide in sleeve or frame made from angle, to position it for easy removal. Top/handle out. bottom toward rear.
Maybe add a tab or cable to padlock it to the frame

Got me thinking that a 50 cal ammo can might be the right size to hold a couple of bottles of Oil or ATF. Would be great to find a place under the hood, under the Jeep or behind the bumpers for one. I'm thinking on top of the slider supports.

50 cal also makes a nice center console / arm rest for CJ's and such

I have a few .50 cal boxes I use for tools in the garage...

I guess I need TWO sets of tools, one to keep in the Jeep :)

i think that's a sweet idea.. please do it and post a lot of pictures. i love old ammo cans... i use them to keep all my gun cleaning supplies in.

I keep my jumper cables in a 7.62mm ammo can (the 200 round variety). It fits snugly under the middle back seat between the metal supports. I also have a 48" high-lift jack under there... It takes some skill to get the cables in the ammo box, but it gets them out of the way and I rarely use them anyway. I almost always have my 85lb dog in the way back, so fitting my recovery/safety gear in the passenger compartment, and still having room for passengers, takes some creativity. Keep the ammo can ideas flowing! I'd love to see a mounted slide-out ammo can system under the front seats!
