Anyone consider doing a steel full fender replacement? I was thinking something like Smittybilt xrc jk fenders and just in the front for now. Maybe 3/16 steel using stock mounting points... I had the fenders off for a while and I actualy like the look of the inner fender better than the sheet metal over it.

Was thinkin the same thing. Was thinkin of usin some aluminum to cover the gap up on the stock fenders and bolt it on the factory points. Kinda the same look. Dont like havin plastic on my Libby ya know. :ROTFL:

Wow!! I would so buy a set if someone could make them. Maybe plastic or fiberglass to cut the weight, maybe a thin steel.

I thought about it. Even made some templates! But ....... nobody on here would pay what I would have to charge for them!

They would have to cost "around" $650, just for the fronts!

Thats not a bad price. I know that if you goto buy fiberglass prerunner style fenders for your pickup your looking at a good $600-$700 bucks. I know alotta people would say they would then back out, but the hardcore crowd would still get some.

fiberglass isn't that hard to work with once you get the hang of it, and you've already got the positive mold (your OEM fender)

i'm fairly decent with the crap, but it's not something i'd use on a vehicle with a potential for impact

steel or ABS or steel backed rubber is a much better alternative than fiberglass for a jeep or prerunner for that matter - wildmans got the right idear

I was thinking more along the lines of replacing the entire fender, not just the flare (but those do look sweet) my fender got banged up in a parking lot so I want them stronger  but 3/16 is gonna be too heavy im goin with 1/8 plate welded at angle instead of bent into shape.

You want the flat fender flare look, like some of the Wranglers have. Right?

That would look really cool.
