I finally got around to starting Phase 1 of my Exo Hybrid project. I have a lot more to tie into this project but I thought it would be nice to post pics of what we've got so far. The complete project will tie together a fully welded partial exo.. roof rack.. tube front bumper.. and inner roll cage. I'm broke most of the time so theres no time frame on when the whole project will be complete but as it develops I will keep the pics updated. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks! I do a lot of my offroading trips doors off so a focus of mine is to keep body twisting to a minimum. The final product wont have any door protection since I don't wheel with the doors on anyway. What will be protected for the most part is the front end and the front seats. Then I'm incorporating a roof rack design similar to the gecko sport rack from rock lizard fab. It should be pretty sweet in the end and if nobody else likes it.. no worries, its my jeep ![]() |

That looks awesome! Good luck with the build and have fun with it. One word of advice, the nutzerts for the roof rails are very weak. If any weight it pushed sideways on those rails against a tree or something, expect it to be ripped out. I would do some research under the roof skin and tie the exo straight to the unibody. ![]() |

Retract my previous statement, I just looked at your pics again and noticed you didn't mount the rails to the stock location. Good job! lol. |

No worries.. that's exactly my plan ![]() The roof rack will tie directly into the inner cage to make the sheet metal on the roof only necessary for keeping me dry when it rains. If I had my way I would convert as much of the unibody over to a tube body as possible. |
