Finally built the Hi-Lift adapter... Thanks to Todd Lawrence for the basic design. I added a pad to the top, instead of using the old piece of wood. Also used 1/4" wall thickness instead of 1/8" or 3/16", It's a beast!

That is a fine looking piece of gear. Probably not too heavy either. Now you can jack to KJ from the side, right? Lots of possibilities there. That red is a great colour, no losing that in the snow...  Great stuff! You planning on production? James.

yes it's used for jacking from the side. But I'm going to fabricate jack point/recovery piece with shackel to replace the tow hooks. Also, I've just had another idea... being that this piece is 2" square it could be inserted into the receiver hitch. It might be a good place to store it and/or use it with shackel on the end. |

We recently lifted our liberty and I've realized that I can no longer reach inside the roof rack. This has led me to another idea. If this adapter was inserted into a receiver hitch the pad could double as a step to reach the roof rack. |

Isnt it a little dangerous high lifting the side of the truck with that? I can just see that acting like a big lever and kicking the the foot of the jack out away from the jeep thus slaming the top of the high lift into the door? I have not tried or seend this done yet, but I am a rookie with a high lift so I could be wrong. |

All of the weight is resting on the pad and the bolt on the adapter is actually pushing down on the frame of the jeep. So their isn't much more leverage than using the jack without the adapter. 
Just incase the jack does fall into the door I have a little protection. When lowering the jack will free fall when theres no more weight on it and it can hit the door. |

Also, the elevated pad on the adapter locks it in behind the pinch weld. So when it's in place, it's trapped between the frame and the body and I think it's more safe than with the lift alone. The adapter doesnt move, slide or rotate in any way on the jack, so even if it were on ice I don't think it would move. |

I made one of these also. It seems to work just fine except for the possibility of the jack contacting the door. I'll have to put some rubber on it like yours. What did you use? Jacking from the rear receiver is not a good idea. |

5/8" heater hose cut down the side. Youre probably right about jacking from the rear, but if it needed to be done in a sticky situation on the trail it might be helpful. |

I gotcha now. I guess I could just see that the weight is out about 2 feet from the high lift "post" and the higher the lift goes up, the longer that leg of the triangle grows... and thus making the lift a bit more likely to tip over... and when the truck goes up the jack has to tip a bit becasue as the truck goes up the and the truck tips it will also move away from the jack a bit more. there is an art to safely high lifting anything i guess. |
