Alright, I figured it was time to lay down my ideas in wood this time around. Made a 3 drawer storage unit for the trunks area. Still needs paint and carpet but you guys will get the idea.

Made from:
3/4 birch ply carcass
1/2 inch birch ply drawers
Southco locking compression handles
Accuglide 100 lb drawer slides.

I know the first question that comes to mind is are you blocking the sub in the back. Yes and I dont notice a single difference in sound quality.

The second question is what happens if you get a flat how do you get to your jack a spare. Fold the front seats down and the whole thing slides toward the front relatively easily.

The third question is howd you anchor it into the trunk. Havent figured that one out yet any suggestions

let me know what you think

Thats gotta be one of the best organised and executed storage systems I've seen :o .. well done that man

I would do something like that being pretty handy with timber, but I've finally talked the wife into doing some travelling around the coast camping next summer, so I'd like to keep the facilty to drop the seats and sleep in the back if we ever needed to

So I'm gonna fabricate a roof rack instead :)

Can you not fix the carcus to the anchor points in the load area before the drawers go in somehow ??

Im sure id be able to mount them to the factory points just have to get in there and figure out the best way.

as for wanting to be able to sleep in the back, Ive seen a lot of units where the builder attaches a piano hinge to the back an had another sheet of ply that flips toward the front to conceal the fron seats giving you a full length sleeping platform. That coupled with the drawer storage could be a perfect camping solution.

Something along the lines of this
