I understand that the roof rack on the Renegade is only rated at 65 lbs where the other Liberty racks are rated at 150. Not that I really want to put 150 lbs up there but I would like to be able to put more than 65. Do you know why it is weaker? Is it the tubes? Can they be beefed up? Or is it the mounting brackets on the ends?

I have had 150lbs on my Saris load bars mounted to the factor racks no problems. If you were concerned you could pull of the factoy tubes and maybe fab a re-enforcemnt tube for inside the factory tube that your load bars are mounted to with in the tube. Or ditch the whole factory set up and fab mounting brackets for the roof and build your own ground up. Some one from LOST has done the latter and may have posted it.

Hey kjfishman, how do you like your Saris system? I'm looking at that but from their fit guide it looks like they only have bars for the Renegade. Looks like they'll work for me as you have em for your CRD.

Fence post!! Its so simple!

Heres a question though,

Spray on undercoating? Make it look a little nicer and blend with the rack.

I may try this with square tube steel and see how that works out.

I had not thought of that. I doesn't make too much noise on the hi-way going 75-80, but i do have the lightbar.

I have been thinking of the same thing. I want to see what you did though. To post pics you need to have them hosted online somewhere and then link to them from here. I have used photobucket its free and they give you a link exactly like you need to have it in your post. Just copy and paste.

CarDomain is blocked for me due to my filter at work. I dont know if anyone else has this problem or not. Unfortunately I spend more time at work than I do at home. If you do get a cardomain site please put the image in your post like this

The easy click my link below to see the pics doesnt work for me.

Thanks

chris nicely done...I really regret paying 120 bucks for my crossbars now! With a basket on it looks clean enough that you really cant tell it was fabbed. good luck finding another way but that looks great to me!

Hah! I use uni-strut all day at work and never thought of using it to make crossbars. What size did you use? We usually use the 2" tall stuff at work, but I think the 1/2" would be fine for a rack.
