Congrats on the new home! Looks like a nice place.

I've even carried 20' stuff under the vehicle. No speed bumps though!

LOL, 200 feet of 1" pvc pipe roped to anything that would melt the rope. Took it 10 miles and got it there whole! You gotta do what you gotta do!

I guess it's pretty flat out there in Nevada. Here in Ohio we have too many hills. My hat is off to you for pulling it off. :D

Depends on the area in Nevada, its about a 50/50 mix of extremely steep hills and mountains or high desert/comstock.

Here's 232lbs of 20' sticks up there. It was only for 1.5 miles and slow back roads. The problem is when you turn the load doesn't want to turn with you, and also the higher COG.

You're braver than I am. When I build the front support, I want to put a big cup for the forward ends of the sticks of steel to fit in. It's 14 miles in the city to my supplier. I have been having them cut into 86 inch pieces so they fit diagonally inside wrapped in a old bedspread. Here in Vegas it's all paved and smooth with gradual hills. Where I roped the stuff underneath was semirural with some steep transitions from paved to gravel. It was in Pahrump, the home of the famous Chicken Ranch.

My supplier offers free delivery, but not to residential. I just meet him in one of the casino parking lots for transfer. The driver is always really cool about it.

Btw Candpliberty, I recently saw an ad on craigslist for a fabrication/steel supply company in Henderson that is going out of business. Looked like they were selling a lot of drops and steel stock as well as all of their tools. Might be worth checking out if it isn't over with already.

Thanks for the heads up but we are talking about moving. That's all I need is a couple of hundred pounds of steel to deal with. I already have to deal with a 1/2" x3x5 welding table, drill press, Hobart wirefeed, 1/2 dozen tool boxes, a small roll around tool box, yada, yada, yada.

I knew I'd do that. I meant Armscor/RIA. Always want to put that p on the end...

Congrats on the home! It looks great!

I'm starting to recoup some of the funds spent lifting(kind of... lol). I think the time for me to get some of your work is coming closer

The shop is coming together nicely, I'm picking up steel tomorrow for a nice welding table. Its going to be a slat type table made of C5x6.7 channel.
Image
First project was a cart for the HH210MVP. I only had to use about 18" of new steel on it, everything else was free salvaged stuff including the 4" casters.

I'm on hoa also, but both my neighbors are woodworkers and say nobody cares about noise within reasonable hours.

You are a lucky sob, I've been searching CL for ever for a table.
Just the plate for your table weighs 425lbs, you pretty much stole that setup with vise included.

hee, hee! I was the only one bidding on it! Opening and closing bid was minimum bid! I figured I stole the vise and the table came with it! I forgot you moved from that wooded lot with the big carport. Congrats again on your home.

Welding table build has commenced. I'm just doing a little at a time but its going quick.
30" C5 x 6.7 channel and 4" x 2" .120 tube. The wood bench I already have isn't level or perfectly flat so I ended up shimming the tubes so the are level both ways.
Image
First slat tacked and square.
Image
More slats tacked and clamped so everything stays flat.
Image
Here's how it sits for now. I intentionally left the support rails long and planned on cutting them off later but i think I'll make a tray or something there.
Image
Tommorrow I'll get the legs cut and maybe finish it up.
