Little gif I made of a dimple die in action with a 50 ton press. Oddly satisfying for me to watch

Got the track bar/panhard built, painted and installed. Relatively painless and happy to report it is 100% silent. I also removed the sway bar to measure and build my adjustable end links. The ride quality is much improved without the sway bar, but it's going back in for DD purposes. Namoulton you were right, with the Bilstein 33-185552's (to my surprise) the stock brake lines are fine and lots of flex! I only have one hockey puck in there and they weren't even touching the upper bumps.

Morgan are you running JBA 4" rear springs? What are you sitting at front and rear now? Also plans of selling sway bar links and track bar eventually?

I'm actually running a pair of Ricky's springs I got 'used' from another member but I don't think he ever installed them. They've been holding steady at 23" hub-fender on both sides with my bumper and tire carrier. The front is at 22", so 4" lift all around.

If there is interest, yes I'm up for producing the track bars and sway bar links.

That's pretty dang cool man. Looking great!

Bigger tires in your plans? You got so much room in the front wheel wells it blows my mind haha

Hows the front alignment? My guy had a hard time at 3.5".

Thanks!
I want to go to a 32 or 33 but would most definitely regear first. The power sucks as it is over mountain passes with 3.73's and 245's.

Still haven't had it aligned... I was waiting until I had the track bar done and the coilovers settled in a bit.

Adjustable rear sway bar end links done. The reasoning for the bend on one of them is to clear the exhaust on the driver side. The thin stock links were just barely touching with those shocks at full flex.

Also came back from the cnc cutter shop yesterday with a sheet and half's worth of 1/4" parts. Among those is another new KK product I've been working on, they're going to be stand alone crossbars that mount to the existing roof studs. Perfect for someone who just wants a simple and very beefy load bar system for kayaks, lumber, etc. This is how it goes together, the saddles hold 1.5" tubing (the ends will be capped and sanded smooth) Image

These are perfect for what I want on my KK!

Any chance these load bars coming back?

Got the adjustable links installed....and they rattle :banghead:
I suspected they might do this because I used 1/2" bore heims with the factory m12 bolts. So onto plan B with those. I just going to chop up some oe links and extend them unless I can find m12 sleeves, bushings, and bushing cups.
Image

Also picked up some new Duratracs. 40k on the current set and they still have decent tread but are getting loud. Got a great deal on them too!

Nice new Duratracs! Mine are at 70,000 miles and still have reasonable tread life left, but they are much louder than they used to be!

In terms of the heim joints... See if you can get replacement rod ends from Steinjager that include rubber bushings. That's what JBA uses on their adjustable track bars now-- or at least that's one of the options they offer. The heim joints that I had on my track bar originally were very clicky, and the noise and vibration would radiate through the unibody. Since switching to Steinjager rod ends, the noise is completely gone and it rides quiet and smooth.

Thanks LF I'll check them out. I'm wondering if JBA'S main problem was using the stock size m14' bolts with 5/8" heims? I bored out the holes on the Jeep's bracketry and used 5/8" chromoly heims that have the poly inserts and no noise.

For the sway bar links, I think the problem I have is using the heim with a 1/2" hole and m12 bolt. There is some play in there because of the size difference (even torqued down). I think I have it figured out now though. What I'm going to do is make some super Frankenstein links with the removable poly bushings and sleeves I got in a new set of moog links and cut the bushing cups out of my old garbage end links and weld them on. I'll update with pics soon to better explain that mess.

That's a really good price for Duratracs. Surprised you didn't step up to 32s though

I don't want to spend the money for regearing honestly.
The place I get my tires from rocks. It's just a small mom and pop gas station that sells tires on the side to order. Ordered them at 9:00 am and picked up at 2:00 pm

Oh and I pulled the sway bar off again...noise is still there. Could be my track bar after all.

I understand race car parts make race car noises but little rattles like that drive me nuts :banghead:

Might have to go with JBA's way and put in a regular bushing on the body mount. I think with a poly or rubber bushing just on the body it should be enough to muffle any sounds heard. Like you said, race cars aren't very refined.

I completely understand the regearing aspect. I'm waiting for something to happen with these, the next set will step up to 32s. I have the money to regear, just not too sure if I want 4.10s (leaning towards these), or 4.56s. I'm still around half tread though with 40k miles, so I'm good for a little while. My list keeps growing and I need to catch up on it, that's the biggest problem.

Got a little creative with the internal gusseting on this Sierra bumper. I haven't done one with a receiver since I started adding light holes, so I had figure out a way around them. Stoked on how it turned out, should be plenty beefy.
