Post subject:  KJ Snorkel?

I was wondering if anyone has seen a KJ with an ARB Snorkel. Does anyone know if they work? I have forged water up to 6 inches deep so far. Eventually I want to deck out my KJ. I will put a snorkel on, unless anyone knows if it does nothing. Thanks for the help!

Last I heard - ARB hadn't made one - although someone was going to try making their own - here are the links

I believe all the air intakes on the KJ are up high in the engine compartment and have shrouds to reduce splash-in. You should be fine to ford a lot more water than that even without a snorkel.

I believe the max submergable depth for stock is mid-headlights.

but...snorkels aren't only useful when fording. Here in the desert they are great for putting the intake up above the dust.

I really don't understand why any of the ARB snorkels couldn't be adapted to the Liberty.

I already have plans to. I just got lifted last weekend. Sometime later this year the tires get swapped out and then it's a set of boulderbars and better lockers. The snorkel's been fifth on the list since I bought the Liberty.

Make sure you extend your breathers if you plan on fording that kind of water!! I know USAFCOP lost his tranny due to water seepage from deep water crossings.

That's right Gerard, Airtec are making one as we speak.

I have also been talking to the manufacturer for TJM's Safari Snorkels regarding the KJ. Will let you know as soon as I get anywhere.

From their website it looks like Airtec and TJM are the same company.

Lookin' forward to hearing what you find out!

We just gotta make sure they make one for the US vehicles as well. As noted in the pic below, its is for a right side driver.

Post subject:  Aussie snorkel install

OzLtd installed a snorkel on his CRD. He went step-by-step in his blog of it: http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64859&highlight=snorkel. He goes by "CRDSTU" on that forum.
