So, I'm in need of a new bumper cover for my 05 CRD Limited. I have tow hooks (did all CRDs may have come with them?) but the factory skin had that rectangular detents in the otherwise flat front surface. I cut out the rectangular notches, but it just looks a little rough. This time around, I wanted to use the skin that had the knockout (and a nice trim finish) already molded in there:
Now, my body shop is playing it conservative and wants to use the part that the VIN pulls up, but is willing to work with me. All the online sources say that bumper above (PN 5JG93TZZAD) will not fit an 05 CRD BUT, put in 06 and the fitment guides are happy as a clam.
So, here's the question: Are there any differences that y'all know about between the fitment of an 05 painted (limited) cover and an 06 or is this just a case of the computer software not being able to think outside it's data to realize that the option simply wasn't available in 05 but would fit fine?
