Sorry to Necro an old thread (although really, this should be stickied) But has anyone here tried using a Plastic Welder to reconnect the flap, or do people just end up leaving it off?

Also, what about removing the plastic liner altogether? If there is a metal wheel well underneath (I assume there is, haven't looked yet.) couldn't you just clean it, grind off any rust, prime and rhino-line it? Note that I am a KK driver, so my wheel wells may be different than you KJ folks' machines.

There have been folks pulling the liner out and undercoating the inside (or cutting and welding plates ect)
but the don't normally do good photo writeups.

generally it's just a comment when they get new tires..

What about rubbing on the front of the wheel well? I just landed some Moab's with the original Wrangler MTR and they hit on the front of the liner. I am going to get rid of the MTR's too noisy but they look butch.

You can heat up the front and push it out of the way too.

Or you could take out the whole thing paint and forget. Taking it out involves I think 4 push pins and drill out the plastic rivets

I ended up heating it and bending it out of the way. Found out that my front bumper had a giant crack that was allowing the passenger side to move closer to the wheel. I think some time this winter I will cut up the front bumper.

is the liner attached with plastic rivets that are irreversibly damaged after removing the liner or something?

could i just buy new plastic rivets so that i wouldnt have to cut the liner?

Old thread but I'll be attempting this Wednesday and would just like to know if anyone has update pics during the process. Instructions here make it seem pretty easy actually, but a photo always helps!
