I went offroading saturday and got the passenger side flooded with mud. 
(pics at link below) http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... php?t=7574 so I either had some serious cleaning to do, or something else... I decided to Hurculine the interior. So far I love it. We'll see how it does!

Don't damage ure seat cover! I just replaced the passenger upper (seat back) leather cover only. price was over $700!! and the replacement doesn't come with the pocket on the back! Luckily, the ins co covered it along with the other break-in damage some fool did. |

Shad, Does your herculiner scrape off? I have had two things herculined and it seems like the paint almost scratchs off with any heavy rubbing. I had the floor of my CJ7 done and it flaked off where my feet rub the floorboard and where stuff has slid around in the back. Maybe the cheapos that did it for me only put a coat or two on and made it thin or something. I still am not happy about it years later. How many coats did you put on? Hope it holds up for you. I thought about rhino lining mine once then changed my mind. later, mike edit: Ok the pics came up for me, That looks bad A**. Looks alot thicker and heavy duty than mine does, Leaving the carpet out of it? |

The plates went back down in front to cover the wires and I got some Jeep mud mats for the front. The wires in the front are pretty well covered. I'm thinking about putting the carpeting back down in the back, but i'm not sure if I want to... I like the looks of it too much to cover it up... 
I put on 2.5 heavy coats (2 full coats and a 3rd on higher traffic areas.) It seems very secure. I scuffed the surfaces very thoroughly before I applied the coats. I used a whole gallon.

How much did this cost you to do? I've been seriously considering doing this to my 2006 CRD simply because I hate automotive carpet and the fact that I always end up ruining the crap in every vehicle I've ever had. I was thinking of just taking the Jeep to an auto shop that does Rhino Liners or whatever brand and seeing it they would spray my floors. In all honesty, a few years back I had seriously considered a Honda Element simply due to its no-nonsense interior, thats the kind of thing I want in any vehicle I have... I don't care even if I own a Benz or Ferrari!

Sure, use xylene to prep the surfaces, wear rubber gloves, and clean it off ASAP (it will stick to your hands like glue) -Mark |

well im a professional painter for Oshkosh Truck defense division. So now for the tips. First after ripping out all of the carpet vacume out all the crap that made it through the carpet. then go buy som 3m/scothhbrite scouring pad or some 80 grit sand paper. Then sand/scuff the crap out of what you want to herculine. after doing that take some acetone and lint free rags and clean the surface. once the rag is dierty throw it away and use a new one. keep doing this until you get a clean rag. Then you can either prime the surface or not. I suggest you hit it with sone rust inhibiting primer just for extra measure. if you prime give it the proper time to dry. the herculine away. i guarntee that the stuff will never flake off if you do it like this. ive been painting since i could hold a spray gun and ive never had a problem with paint or anything else chipping or flaking if the job was done correctaly. main tip...... paint or liner doesnt stick to dirt........ and for the frames of vehicles....... runs dont rust so put it on heavy and your going to be just fine |

Sorry for the huge delay in responce. Yeah. It is holding up freaking awesome. There are still very few signs of were. The only thing is when someone spills allot of icecream with carmel & Fudge, the texture is a pain to work with. But there have been no chips, no flakes, freaking perfect. I'll take some pics and whatnot and update real soon... As for installation Qs, it was real easy. simple scrub the surfaces with a scotchbrite pad, wipe out with some household IPA (70% Isoprople Alcohol) and apply. Hurculiner is very smelly and it reaked for the first week. As far as sound, my wife nor I could notice a difference in road noise. I've got some Cooper STTs on it now and they give a good hum, nothing like the noise people have complained about with running MT tires, so my assumption is that it does help with road noise... Thanks for the responces!
