I was pretty careful. I'm sure the shackle isn't super strong either. Steady slow pull in low range, and it helped that both vehicles were going down hill.

I think this fab looks great, I also am wondering if anybody has used this set up to flat tow with? It seems possible any ideas? I'm looking for some recovery points and a way of getting around paying $350.00 for a set of base plates for our 2006 sport. I think I would try to weld in a cross member piece as well to add more stability and a piece of plate on top.. Someone cane up with a great fab here!

Okay, live this idea but I have a bull bar. Is there a way you can attach this to my 06 kj while using my bull bar?

Okay, I took some measurements and I think this will still work with the bull bar. There should be just enough room and still able to use a 7/8 or 3/4 d ring. Il post pics as soon as I figure out how.

Finally added a pair of these to my rig. I love them. $12 each for the 2" drop, 2" hitch receivers. And $10 in Grade 8, 1/2" bolts to mount them with. Holes were already there for the OEM hooks. Perfect fit. Took all of 15 minutes to install. Used the hole that was already in the receiver for one bolt, then drilled one more for the second bolt.

Thanks for the comments. You are direct about Treadwright. They are Girard Dog 265/75-16 on BFG All Terrain cases.

I'm wondering one thing..

Are these strong enough to use as jacking points for a hi-lift?

Sure. I don't see why not. They are stout.

Wonderful... Pulled the front clip off last weekend on my '04 KJ... measured everything out and having my body shop friend cut the bumper and put some rubber moulding around the hole (I've got a brush guard so i cant use the stock holes)

Should look badass and work just as well, i'm looking forward to having both a brush guard and recovery points

Ended up smashing a deer at 75 over the winter and the brushguard actually saved me alot of damage.
