Another day in the mud ...

Hi guys,
here are some pics and vids about last saturday trip in the mud.
Its a yearly outing some a group of friend, really cool !
Last year i had to be rescued 7 times and it took me 4-5 attempt to climb-up a steep trail of rocks covered with leaves.
Last Saturday: 0 rescued and success at first attempt.....
The difference?
Last year I had Duratrac on 15' rims. The overall diameter of the Goodyear were equal to the stock wheels.
Now, i am on KM2 on 16' rim. Tire sizes: 245 75R16....the max we can live with , without too much rubbing....
I also replaced my front OME shocks with a set of stiffer Koni ==> less pumping from the front=less hits=more confidence !

Nice Pictures!! Where was that this year?

Also you fitted new Wheels 16', do you know what brand they are? 16x8 or 16x8 and do you know what backspace or ET?
I am in the market for a set but a bit hard to find here in the UK with the correct backspace or ET, yours look to sit just right.

Thanks for the comments !
This is a day trip we do every year, it is in the Bugey. Its a kind of large mountain , not very high, covered with forest on the North and some winery on the south part. (headache garanteed type of wine :wink:

)

Regarding the wheel, my rim are 16x8 and these are GOSS Modular, if i remember correctly the offset is 30mm. 75euro a piece at Offroad attitude (sorry its in frog :wink:

)
I didn't want to have too much offset because 1) it exposes the front disks and 2) it requires more triming to allow to turn.
My set rubs a bit but i don't care :SOMBRERO:

What i can say is this set of wheel/tire is pure fun offroad. The KM2 has fantastic traction and is also much stiffer than the Duratrac which allows to deflate a lot with much less risk to have a flat (tire pinched).
I had so many flat with the Duratrac, but again, the Duratrac are good tires for trails, and distance, but not for mud.

No, I have no lockers. I used a bit of momentum that time, it helped :BANANA:

Don't know where I could placed the inboard air pump.

And yes it looks like an old Range Rover , pretty well equipped !

You are so right, I made the calculation of actually how much cm I gained, I think it's 3 , a bit more than an inch. But what a gain !
And also the stiffer front shocks solved that pumping issue i had when ridding a bit faster, and avoid a lot of banging in the front skid.

Which coils are you using up front?

Which coils are you using up front?

I am Frankenlifted so I have the same coils than you: 790 & 948
The Koni are really great for the front. As the 2005 CRD is a bit heavier than the 2002 for which the lift was made, if I got it right, then the Koni gives this just right extra support.
