Cdiekhans, Thanks for the respond. I wasn’t sure if you actually removed the clear coat with the sand paper or if you had just buffed it up so that the color would adhere.
Great job those wheel look great, was this a weekend project or longer? I want to do this but I'm afraid if might take a bit longer (perfectionist thing) and end up being without a vehicle. I might wait till after winter due to all the salt that is laid out for the ice/snow

ProjectKJ: there are a lot of sweet KJ's on this site, so I must be doing something right... :D Thanks! that made my day.

MCarnage: Thanks
I painted the fifth wheel 2 weeks before the rest.. Just to see what would happen, and If I liked it... Once you sand the OE rims there is no turning back, they will never look the same.....
So after two weeks I decided to do the rest: (My Uncle helped me with the final 4 wheels)

(It might take a whole weekend by yourself but I really doubt it.)

I painted the front two wheels and left them off to dry overnight:
"I don't like having my liberty on JUST jack stands, I"m sure it is fine,it's a personal thing"-you could do all the rims at once......

Then I came back in the morning and put them back on the Jeep.
Took off the rear wheels and painted them and let them dry for about 3 hrs... Then I drove away with black rims :D

It was really simple Anyone can do this! Just make sure to follow the directions on the can. Especially the " Use at temperatures between 60-90, AND when humidity is LESS than 60%

P.S I sanded the rims with a medium grit sand paper while they were on the Jeep. Then I sanded again with 320 grit when they were off of the Jeep...

Good luck if you do it... If it doesn't turn out as nice as mine don't hate :D

A wheel cleaner shouldnt hurt the paint at all as long as its Clear Coat safe. I do not believe you clear coated those, but if its safe for CC then it should be ok for your painted rims.

Looks great BTW. :)

Most wheel cleaners as long as the say "all wheels" or "clear coat safe" are okay for painted wheels. I have those same wheels and painted mine and sanded the lip and clear coated them. They clean easy and I almost always use a wheel cleaner like Eagle 1 and they still look great. Here is one painted.
Oh and cdiekhans your Jeep is awesome looking!

Those rims and tires look very cool. I am thinking about the same tires. How do they feel on the road?

They are awesome! they are loud going down the highway with the window down but rather than that they RULE! Tons of traction... no more burnouts..
If they don't wear too bad I will get another set...
Thank for the comments.....
