Post subject: | Hollister in a rental KJ |
Hi all, One of my roommates got rear ended and ended upgetting a KJ for his loaner. We went out to Hollister and he promtly fell into a tiny dip and freaked out a bit (he didn't sign up for insurance). We just cruised around on all the easy stuff and had a relaxing day. I overheard him later whining to a friend "my stupid VW won't go over anything cool. I want a Jeep". ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Sorry for the big sizes. I'm unsure how to make them smaller.) ![]() ![]() |

Way to go! Rentals are the best for "test drives" I always get the insurance if we plan on having fun. I've participated with the "Team Hertz" racing group for track days and autocross before. Bolt on some race tires and have fun. |

I love rentals! And have generally driven everything I've owned like one. |

Looking great with the rental!! Reminds me of the movie "Days of Thunder" where they both bash their rentals on the beach and out in town lol. Should check with your insurance company if you ever rent, some like Geico carry your coverage over to any rental. Same coverage that you have on your car. Tell your friend to trade that VW in ![]() Justin |

I wouldn't call that whining to a friend about wanting a Jeep. I'd say it was a sudden realization of how awesome a Jeep is to have and that a VW should stay on the road. |

So when is your friend going to trade that sucker in for a Jeep? |

Clint? Race? Nah....I don't believe it! He's really bummed about turning it back in. The repair shop got sent the wrong emblems and he told them about how he'd really rather wait and just pick it up when it's 100% done. I'd love to see two Jeeps in the driveway. His stocker next to my KJ looks like mine next to Wally's! It's good for my ego. ![]() |

Wow, I'd forgotten how small the stock tires on the Freedoms look. Mine aren't that much bigger, but it certainly looks different. I'd do the two sets of wheels thing like you do, but I don't have anywhere to put the extra set! Oh well, one of these days... |

Yeah, I didn't swap the tires this time. I figured it was already an unfair advantage with the lift and locker. I thought you were going for the old "tires and plywood for a table" trick? Throw a tablecloth on and you wife will never know! |

Yeah, somehow I don't think that would go over well... ![]() |
