Post subject:  New Lift Installed
Just got back from having an alignment after installing a Rough Country 3" lift. The lift was not as easy to install as they made it sound. Trying to realign the clevis with the lower control arm after installing the spacer was a real pain. I also had to call a neighbor to come stand on the rear axle so that I could get the new springs installed. I decided to get a lift after a recent trp to Colorado. I was scraping on every pebble on the trail. I measured from the floor to the skid plate and had 6" of clearance before the lift. Should be 9" now. Next addition will be some boudler bars.

Ride is great. I haven't had it off road since lifting it yet but I can't really tell much difference from the stock ride. The rear seems a little softer, but not mushy by any means. One issue that came up with the alignment. I had it aligned at FireStone (lifetime alignment) after installing the lift and they couldn't get the right side camber to the proper setting of -0.3. The tech said it was maxed out at -0.8. There will also be some issues with the upper control arm contacting the spring at full extension. I am going to try to come up with some limiting straps to take care of that.

I got the RC lift as well,how are your CV'S (axels)that is holding up?Mine are binding and knocking.To much angle.

Jeepin' Al sells a set up upper A-Arms that will bring that alignement problem back to factory specs. www.jeepinbyal.com

The CV joints seem to be OK. I had to replace one halfshaft not long ago because I tore a boot while in the sticks and couldn't find a replacement boot. I now believe that the boot for a Durango would fit. I have been worried about the shafts, but realized that they see much more extreme angles when turning. On stock tires inlfated to 35 PSI The fender opening is 35 inches off the ground. I am more worried about the UBJs. I plan on getting a set of Al's arms later this year. I just dropped the cash for some new General Grabber AT2 255/70/16s. So I will have to let the wife recover from that before I hit the bank account up for the A-arms, rock rails, and one more MOOG LBJ. She is just too practicle.

I just put a frankenlift on my `02 a week ago, and today I had the alignment done. The tech said the same exact thing to me, the best he could do on the right side was -0.8. Must be a KJ thing.

One tip to check if You are not able to get alignmet right:

The cradle that holds engine + lower control arms is bolted to chassis with 4 bolts, these bolt holes are quite big so whole cradle can be moved side to side about 4 millimetres after loosening those bolts with prybar or similar. In my car this helped to get aligment to specs.
