Well the Down Right LOST group had a lift party today for me. A group of us met up and finally installed the Rusty's Lift I bought back in December. The lift went really quick, but we did tear an LBJ boot, i had the recall done about 3 weeks ago, so I will have to try and get it done again at the dealers cost. I decided at last minute not to do a clevis lift because I don't want CV problems, but I did install 1 extra rear spring isolator. Overall I am very happy with this lift...I just don't like the clunking in the front, but I'm sure it will go away.

Here are the pre and post lift measurements
(the mid pinch measurement are the pinch weld directly below where the front and rear doors meet)

Dr pinch weld................. 11 3/4 " ...............15" ..................... = + 3 1/4"
Pass pinch ................... 12" .............. 15 3/8" .................... = + 3 3/8"
Reese Fr hitch ...............15" ....................18" ....................... = + 3"
Bot. of front diff .............. 7" ...............10 2/8" ................... = + 3 2/8"
Dr. mid pinch ................ 1 2/8" ...................1' 4 2/8" ..................... = + 4"
Pass mid pinch................1' 1/2" ................1' 4 1/2" ..................... = + 4"
Bot rear tow hook...........1' 2 1/4" ................. 1' 6 1/2" ....................... = + 4 1/4"
Rear diff.........................7 6/8" .................. 8 7/8" .......................... = + 1 1/8"

This was interesting, we had to push down on the strut assembly to compress the springs more to get the top nut threaded...we all had tight buttholes!!!

Image

putting the new strut assembly in...this actually went in really easy!!!! a bit too easy

rear with OME shock and extra spring isolator pad

After the install and test driving...we decided to hit a quick trail to test it out and break it in....performed great!!!!!!
Image

flex it out baby!!!!!!!! love that extra travel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

typical after shots

i think the rear looks huge...good thing I didn't put in the second set of isolators i bought

This is charlie sleeping with his head on the old struts, springs and shocks...Absolutely pathetic!!!! but cute as heck!

Here is the video. This hill is pure sugar sand. I have never made it up stock with bridgestone deulers. It is actually pretty steep in the front. Lockers help on this. We filled in some rutts that were caused by a TJ that went up before me, got stuck, and spun the tires digging huge holes. But I'm glad I made it up!!! Even though it ripped off my license plate (again) Everyone is laughing in the beginning because I still had it in reverse when i hit the gast, so I hit the bank behind me. If you watch close when I get to the top and turn, the front left tire actually leaves the ground for a second.

We are going on a run tommorow, I will post some more pics and videos then.

Thanks to Wes, Terry, Gayden and Rob for helping me out on this!!! it was a great time!!!

now, take those nasty rear shocks off and get some ranchooooos!!

looks sweet, man.. it will sag a bit in front, so you may want to go ahead and do a small clevis lift to compesate.

i love my rustys lift.

nasty rears??? Those are OMEs brother! can't beat em!!!! In the short ride I have had with them on, they are much much better than stock. but can't compare them to ranchos since i have never been in a KJ with them.

haha, Looks like you all had a good time putting that lift on! 8)

Are those the extended OME shocks? Or the regular length?

They are the regular length. IMHO they give plenty of flex. I was out again today and the lift in total peformed great. Its like a totally new JEEP. I can go anywhere. Next up though is the locker. (and skids)
