Looks like you had a great trip. Sorry I couldn't make this one, hopefully next time. Did you all just wheel around Broken Bow?

Pretty much the only time we were on pavement was when we were on 259, the whole weekend pretty much consisted of off pavement driving and getting pinned by tons of trees....my buffer will get a work out later this week, just so I can try and get some oft he scratches out. There was more off pavement driving then what I thought there would be and definitely more technical encounters then I had anticipated, which wasn't a bad thing either...You would of had fun if you were able to make the trip that is for darn sure....Hope your Easter weekend went well...for everyone that is too

great shots, what are those strings? wires? going from the roof rack to the bumper on the Mitsu?

Keep tree branches from hittin the windshield.

yes they are wires, they help deflect tree branches from the windshield and hood...we came to one tree though that didn't like them and tore one of them off. They were nylon coated 3/32 steel cable, essentially the nylon gave out on the cable and caused it to get ripped from the bracket that was holding the cable, quick fix once we got camp setup...

Nice pics and the Montero is pretty cool. However, I think those cables could end up doing more damage as it pushes the branch away and then would recoil onto the windshield.

You'd be surprised how effective they work in the field, bu i see what your saying. Some of the smaller branches I could see doing that but never rode with him to see how effective they really were at deflecting the tree branches...I think they mainly give you that cool expedition touring look if you ask me, but perhaps for some things they can actually be useful.

yeah, i could see that as well, but maybe it acts a guide wire for branches...branches go over the top and essentially it will push the branch up and over the roof and roofrack, that way the branch doesnt slap its way down the sides of your pillars and windows?
