Not a bad looking vehicle, but hard to think of as a Jeep. Esp. that interior :?

Ditto.

Just too drastic of a change to still really be a Liberty. It is fine in its own right for what it is but because of how it started, a Liberty should have Curves. I do look forward to wheeling w/ one some day. We gotta find a new owner and get them to sho up to Moab 08.

I dont think it will make a good trail rig even compaired to a KJ
not that the KJ is not right at home on a trail but I just can not see a KK running the trails we run
I also see a mini commander
wich is not all that bad I like the commander for what it is a good sized family rig
that from what I saw and heard this weekend the commander with the hemi makes one hell of a tow rig

guess what my wife will be getting real soon

i dont like the look, there was an 08 nitro r/t infront of it and they look way to much a like. It looks like a nitro on steroids trying to be a commander but failed. I just really dont like the exterior, interior is not that bad but still like my kj's better.

Hummm...I am not a fan with the look of the front end. It is lacking the "character" of the origianl Liberty. I like the taller "greenhouse" of the KJ over the KK also. The back of the KK is not that bad (looks a bit like a Hummer tho)...would look good with a 33" hanging on there 8) It definitely looks wider and longer than the KJ. I really want to see one in person. They have removed the lines and curves on the KJ...I guess the "J" in KJ is less rigid than the "K" in KK

I like the old style KJ. We have a Commander & love it, why just diminish the look of the old KJ? It's character is gone. It is now a mini commander. I'm glad I have my 03 KJ, Some will like it, it's still a Jeep! If I were to buy something new, it would be an 08 Rubi!!

It is ok. I don't care for the Nitro looking front though.

Maybe they should have discontinued the liberty name and called it something else like the Jeep Subordinate? They didn't try to pass the liberty off as the newly remodeled Cherokee, so why pass that off as the liberty?

The exterior is okay looking, but the interior has got to go. What is up with that consol? The interior is so square I'm suprised the steering is round.

I've yet to see one in person.. but that one is not my favorite. I'm not a big fan of blue.. or untinted windows..

I think once the shock factor wears off they'll be accepted.. I mean come on how many times have the KJs been called cartoons? Its just change..

no offense intended, crimson, but i have to disagree. that seems kind of ridiculous since other manufacturers go through major design changes all the time and dont rename their models. thats just how it is! look at the grand cherokee. looks nothing like an original, but still encompasses the same segment of the lineup which is what is important. just my opinion! :D

I don't care for it. Leave the KJ as the KJ. If Jeep wants to bring back a Cherokee, then great, do that but leave the Liberty and Liberty looks alone.

Sometimes I woder if Jeep designers listen or what they must sometimes be thinking? Remember the square headlights issue on the Wrangler? -And the turn signals got moved out on the fenders of the Wrangler...

As a Jeep enthusiast and Jeep traditionalist, when I like a Jeep model I personally don't want it messed with as drastically as the 2008 Liberty. If I wanted a new Libb after I wear out my 2006, I would not buy that fugly 2008 thing and I fear what it'll morph to.

Jus my .02 worth.

Landy

this whole discussion sounds just a teeny bit like the discussions XJ owners had when the KJ came out. And by "teeny", I mean "exactly". So, now do we:

A) finally realize what the XJ owners were all about when they bashed the Liberties and all the new Liberty owners hated them for it? OR
B) have KJ owners fallen into the same trap that XJ owners did and are just closed minded to the new product?

I dont know the answer....

me............closed mind, dont like nothin new, hate change, :? Know what you me Jon, heard it all when I bought the Liberty, why are you buying that thing when you have a Cherokee , Cherokees are better, we all get set in our ways somewhat, but then I think for most if the changes were not so drastic it would be different you know. For example Mustangs have always looked like Mustangs ( we can forget about a few years there when they "downsized" ) But it will all be good, I think you will see more and more KJs out doing what we already do with ours with the newer ones coming out and prices start dropping more on ours. All will be right in the world , even if the new Libs are ugly in front!

I hated the new look when it was first unveiled. Didn't like anything about it. I called it the Nitromander. But slowly it has started to grow on me to the point where I actually went and checked one out. Up close & personal it's not bad. I'm still not a fan of the front end, but I'm starting to like the rest of it.
